Turning her head to look around, she found that the figure was already gone. Perhaps it was for the best, to avoid any awkwardness.
Struggling to get up, she inadvertently noticed the card on the bedside table, and suddenly, it felt like she had been punched in the gut, the pain making it hard for her to breathe.
She silently stared at it for a few seconds, then picked up the clothes lying nearby and walked into the bathroom. Staring at her flushed face in the mirror, she looked at the bruises on her neck and body, and bitterly smiled.
After leaving the bathroom, she took the bank card and opened the door, only to see Daniel in the study across the way.
He hadn't left?!
He had seen her too; his eyes narrowed slightly as he stood up and walked towards her. His gaze was so raw that it reminded her of everything from last night, making her face burn even more. The bank card in her hand was gripped so tightly that it felt like it would snap.
