Ralph's Point Of View
" What do you mean she's gone, isn't she in her room, somewhere making herself up?" The guard bowed down, his face to the floor as it was a sign of disrespect to the royal family or high authority because their eyes were not to be seen while conversing with them.
His breath wasn't stable as he kept shaking,
"No your highness, she is not, her maids have searched the whole of the palace but they couldn't find her and we've done so also but it futile your highness".
" What's all this? A runaway maiden or what?" I said, more frustrated by the minute. I am definitely not up for something like this in any way. I stood up from where I was and kicked the nearest object to me but unfortunately it was my favourite armour.
"So what are you still doing here? Go search for her, search the whole kingdom and the border, go. What are you waiting for?" I said to the guard, who was more impatient than me about leaving my presence. He knew what was at stake if she was not found, definitely he would be in that state of agitation.
" Remember, not a word to father, I mean not a word till we find her and that's if we eventually do" I said the last word sarcastically, my beta rolled his eyes at me.
"Common Ralph, don't be like that, she is someone's daughter you know, and she never chose herself to be a part of the mate games".
I looked at my Beta in a angry way
"Really? Is that what you're going to say right now? Did I choose her then to be my long awaited mate? Damn it, I do not want to be involved in this mate game or even interested in having a mate for now. At least not now that the blood mages are on our neck ".
"You just have to calm down, let's go look for the poor girl, she must be overwhelmed just like you, from almost becoming the new elite warrior to just suddenly becoming your gaming mate. Do you know how much work she has put into the training?".
My Beta said as we were walking down the hall of the palace in order to go through the back door and not attract any attention of the pack elders who came to see me for a very crucial meeting. They were my father's eyes and ears everywhere.
"Woah, I am now to be blamed for the Unpalatable ceremony in choosing a mate for me? And to say I have to choose from five or six ladies the moon goddess had crafted out specially for me is so boring.
We both laughed at my words and gestures as we made our way out of the palace and tried to search through the woods first before we headed right to the border to see if we could see her.
We called out her name at intervals .
" Jackia, are you here? Jackia? '' Liam, my beta and I called out as my personal guard also called out at intervals. Since we didn't see any sign of Jackia, we made our way to the border to find out if she tried to run away, besides it was a useless effort.
No matter how she could fight she can't fight off thousands of blood mages awaiting her at the other side of the border.
The moon goddess has built a barrier to protect us from blood mages.Once every half moon, the border opens up, so these blood mages make use of this opportunity to run in through the border before it closes .
It was always full of bloodshed, war and destruction as many of them pass through the border and most time we are never prepared for what they brings to us.
So every year we train thousands of members to become soldiers. Thousands of years back, a law was made that every household had to provide two sons for them to be trained into becoming a soldier once they turned eighteen.
But as years went by, we were beginning to have more females so we began to bring in women who were willing to become one to fight and protect their homes. Though it has not always been successful.
My thoughts were disrupted by one guard Who ran towards us
"We found her, we found her, your highness, the chosen one by the moon goddess, we found her " he kept on saying as he got closer but, I didn't wait to hear what he said next as I already heard him before. I took to my heels as his last words breezed past my ears.
" We found her lifeless at the border"
I ran like my life depended on it. I didn't know what I felt within myself , I just needed to see her at the moment. I needed to see her but I did not know why. I just hoped she was fine, I became overly worried for her, but as I got closer she was now awake .
I scolded her a little before I lifted her up and made our way to the palace. I had to confess "How come you weigh this much for a woman?" But her response shook me as she blushed at my statement, I became more conscious of myself as she stared right at me throughout our way back to the palace .
By the time we got there, father was already waiting at the front of the palace. He was definitely angry and some of his elders were with him. As we got closer I dropped the lady in my arm and bowed down to father.
" Young lady, do you know what uproar You have put the whole palace in because of your childish attitude? Yet you stand before me like a man? you are a woman, born to be subjected to my son whenever he needs you.
I could see she was getting angrier by the minutes as she folded her hands so hard and blood dripped out from them from the sharpness of her nails. Her eyes looked directly at father.
" Father, she was found unconscious, I think we should let her rest for now " .
I signalled to the maids at my disposal, they ran forward and took her in,
" What a spoiled brat, will she ever be humble to her mate when she eventually becomes the Luna of this kingdom? I just hope the moon goddess didn't make a great mistake,"
" Father, do not say that ".
I found myself trying to support her, but what has come over me? I didn't wait for anything else as I made my way into the palace with Liam by my side who lives in the palace with his mate and I was happy that he found love easily .
Not like me who has to go through a series of ceremonies to find a mate, as of tonight two more ladies have been found with the crescent mark in their forehead and they were found to have been chosen by the moon goddess.
I was more pissed off than ever, I couldn't get myself to sleep as I just stared right into the roof, then I went to my window to stare into the night, but then I started hearing some grunt noise from the left side of the palace .
I stretched my neck to check who was injured, only to see the maiden from earlier, Jackia, working out into the night .
