Jackia's point of view
I didn't know what to say to the Alpha's dad, I found myself lost for words. How could he think of me like a spoiled brat? How dare he?. It took me several minutes of getting into the room I was given in the palace by the Alpha to realise that I was bleeding.
I was too blinded by my anger towards his outburst and the mean words he spoke to me. But the prince was fast enough to speak for me. Throughout the whole day I refused to take anything, I was used to going days without food or proper clothing.
But I choose to starve myself, probably If I refuse everything that was brought to me then I would be allowed to leave but would that be possible since it is the moon goddess herself that has brought this upon me?.
So definitely she alone has the right to let me go. But what I saw earlier, definitely she is not the type to let go so easily. When it was night time, I tried to get myself to sleep but for every single time I tried sleep never came.
I made my way out of my room to the little open ground outside my window and decided to work out for more than an hour but still I do not wish to go back inside but nature called my name. It made me go inside eventually.
By the end of the week two more ladies joined in and they were alleged to have the same mark as me . What still baffled me is why the moon goddess decided to pick five or six ladies to have this mark instead of one and save us all this whole stress?.
Are we some sort of toys for the alpha or what was she trying to do? The stories we heard were that we would engage in a series of games to win the prince's heart and whoever emerges winner amongst these women is the rightful future Luna of this great kingdom.
Probably I could still plan my escape instead of waiting like a lost sheep that has no other option than to wait and endure whatever comes its way before the shepherd comes looking for him . I cannot see myself after going through all those training to become an elite warrior, getting stuck here with ordinary wolves .
Competing for the attention of the Alpha that shows no interest in us was too degrading for me.
One couldn't deny that the Alpha was a handsome man, and he was more gentle towards me, but I can't imagine myself being just a baby maker for him .
I can't disappoint my dead brother. I chose to be the next elite warrior because he couldn't live long enough to accomplish it. I wanted to acquire power and put a stop to forcing our women from getting mated to just any wolf that their fathers had chosen for them.
A man they don't love, some may not have seen this wolf before and she is given to him as a bride in exchange for power or fame , not in any way . My thoughts were disturbed the next morning when I was woken up by a maid.
" Miss Jackia, I am here to Inform you that you will be attending dinner with the Alpha tonight with the other chosens and you are expected to look your best. We need to prepare to get you a dress alongside the rest of the women" , I looked up at the lady that was speaking and it felt like she was speaking in a language i did not understand .
" I do not understand, I am going shopping for a new dress because I have to attend dinner with the Alpha? What happened to my official uniform?" I asked the maid who laughed at my expensive joke. Well I would say it was expected from her .
" Miss you are going to dinner with the Alpha and you are to dress in the finest way possible, at least to attract the Alpha to you and gain advantage over the other women "
" Wait, I don't get it so the whole ceremony has started?" .
She quickly dropped her servant like way of Character and rushed to sit on the bed beside me ,
"Of course Miss Jackia, the fourth lady just joined and it was rumoured that the fourth lady and the Alpha both were attended to by the same guardian ".
It was a way of showing you're from a prestigious and wealthy family, when you have a guardian who comes to teach you some basic way for reading and writing while some of us never but picked up from a few rich friends.
" Oh I see , so tell me what is this ceremony all about and when is it going to end? I mean, when is it going to end? ". I asked her as she brightened up. She was the chatty one and you could tell she knew a whole lot more than she should .
But at least I could use that to my advantage and get myself out of here as soon as possible ,
"Miss Jackia, all this ceremony takes up to two months, there will be a time before it officially starts that will be after the Alpha has met with each of the women".
" Oh the Alpha has to meet with each of the women first before the ceremony officially starts?",
" Yes Miss Jackia, and it is said that every lady who is not amongst the chosen will be exposed on that swearing night ".
" A swearing night? What do you mean by not being amongst the chosen? I thought all the ladies brought in were amongst the chosen with the Mark on their forehead ?" I asked her, looking totally lost in all of this. Why should there be any other swearing in again when there was evidence right on our foreheads?.
" Well that is because of what happened to our kingdom years back, it is said that one may not come from the origin of the chosen and wishes to be amongst. They can deliberately kill the chosen and when this is done the mark is transferred to the person she sees last".
" Then that means she has inherited it , that isn't the only bad thing "
"It will become worse if the person doesn't come from the chosen origin ,so as not to bring misfortune and pain to our kingdom especially now that we are at war, they will be punished severely.
Then it dawned on me that it was way deeper than I thought it was. I would have to rethink my actions and be more careful. In no time I would have to cautiously find my way out if it ,
"Can you tell me about the Alpha?, what is he like?".
I asked her to find a way to get through to him, he is the only one who can get me out of this palace as soon as possible. Even though I am not sure I will be able to get him to see reasons with me, there is no harm in trying.
