Ralph's point of view
"You wanted to see me father?"
Without his rugged face turning over to me he dismissed the young maid that was attending to him in his inner chambers, it was when she was finally out of the room that he spoke but his face was still turned away from me as I stood looking over to him.
"You finally came," he said, making sure his bitterness was translucent through his words.
"Father, you understand that I am the Alpha king now, time is not something that I have in abundance..."
He laughed so hard that I was sure one of his old fragile bones would eventually break but he just coughed at some point and finally turned around to face me still sitting down in his cushioned chair, there was no reason for me to sit since this was not going to be a long discussion.
"A true King my son is somebody that's understands his responsibility to his people and I'm afraid you fall short there..."
My jaw tightened as I could sense where this conversation was heading, well it wasn't as if my father had much more to discuss with me anyways.
"Father, if this has to do with the Mate games I have told you that I will get to it eventually but you need to understand that..."
"That what?"he demanded angrily standing up or at least attempting to before he had to cave back into his chair again.
I look at him with a patient and tolerance expression on my face before taking a deep breath.
"You have to understand that there happens to be a little war going on right now with the Blood thirty Famangs... So there isn't time for such frivolous things as that..."
I said to him as calmly as I could even as he was trying to puncture my self control something that he was always brilliant at he crossed his legs together his movements very slow and deliberate as he took me in with his eyes then placed me down again as I stood firmly.
"Are you saying that continuing the bloodline is frivolous?" He said sounding horrified.
We had already gone through this conversation so many times that it made my headache just going through it again with my hands crossed. I explained to my father that I had no intention of ending our bloodline, but right now the most pressing issue was dealing with the Famangs.
"Is there really any problem with me choosing a mate after I have defeated them?"
The clench his fist and hit it against the arm of the chair that he was sitting on as the pain visibly run through his facial expressions but he refused to let it through his mouth I waited far too patiently until he was finally able to speak again without wincing.
".... Son this tradition is far beyond me and you. every two hundred years, the moon goddess personally selects the most suitable woman to bear the next king... She's not like other women, she's exceptional!"
He said gesturing with his hands frantically, this conversation really drained me. So I told my father that there was a ceremony at the palace and I had to be there.
"What ceremony?"He demanded and he looked like he was going to stand up again but quickly rethought that idea and remain on the chair.
"The elite warrior title ceremony," I said as I was already half looking at the door then I heard another sarcastic laughter from him that brought my attention back.
"Is that what you are so pressed about from what I hear it's a joke now... Isn't there a woman amongst them?"
He said as if he was about to physically shrink away from just saying that alone.
"Well she has proven herself to be capable so I don't see any reason why she should not be officially recognized as an elite warrior,"I stated frankly to my father who had his jaw on the floor in a couple of seconds.
"In my days, it was nothing like...then this women knew their place; in the kitchen!"
It was at that point I decided I had wasted more than enough time with my father and I turned to actively make my way towards the door as he was calling out my name.
"Ralph ! Are you really working out of this conversation? Son! We are not done talking...!"
I came to his door and held the Golden knob as I pulled it open and turned to face him.
"For now I'm afraid we are, I have a ceremony to attend,"
The thumping in my head was only able to calm down when I was finally in the carriage heading towards the palace, my father and I have always been at logger heads with each other, he always bragged about his grandfather Alpha King Kristen when I was growing up he never failed to talk about him at any given opportunity.
Growing up I used to think the worst thing about Alpha Tristan was the fact that he was a heartless tyrant, that was until I found out that the mate games started because of him and horrid thing he did that he was never truly punished for since then just hearing his name made me sick to my stomach.
What was the worst was that I had his blood in my veins.
But today was not a day to think about that, I was able to arrive some minutes before the ceremony will begin and I got washed up and changed into the proper attire to honor those that had fought and sacrificed so much.
The ceremony was supposed to begin with the chosen elite warriors coming to the throne room and I would present each of them with a medal made of the purest silver, which ironically they couldn't directly touch.
But I had no idea the surprise that was waiting for me when they arrived..
Or rather when she arrived.
