Chapter 24 - Kidnaped

The Director didn't continue her words because Jeff approached us and started a conversation with Director Emilia. I was a bit annoyed since my curiosity was interrupted, but it was alright. It seemed I would have to find out on my own.

The evening passed as usual. The Director returned to the Academy that night, and we all went back to our rooms to rest after a long day.

The moon was at its highest point tonight, indicating it was already midnight. I walked over to the desk chair in my room, pulled it out, and sat down.

I picked up a piece of stationery and a pen to write a letter to my mother in the village.

I dipped the pen in ink and began writing.

"Good evening, Mother. I'm sorry for not sending you a letter sooner. The days here feel nostalgic, like when we used to live together in the city. I miss you and want to feel your warm embrace again, but there is something I must pursue here. I need to learn to control my powers so I don't hurt those around me. Mrs. Eva and her family are as kind as ever. They welcomed us warmly. The Academy Director also visited us to verify what Uncle Jeff had said. Tomorrow, I will likely start at the Academy. Please pray for me, Mother. I will become strong enough to protect you and everyone else. Warm regards, your son, Eizan."

I couldn't help but feel the weight of my emotions after writing that letter. A child missing their mother is truly heartbreaking. Unconsciously, I shed tears while writing.

I folded the letter and placed it in an envelope.

After finishing the letter, I stood up and walked over to my bed, hugging my pillow as if it were my mother.

"I miss her so much," I whispered.

The next day was Monday, the day I would leave this house and start at the Academy. Jeff's family was having breakfast together. "Ei... Are you going to the Academy today?" Jeff asked, half-chewing his omelet.

Eva shook her head. "I swear, sometimes I can't believe you're a noble with your terrible table manners, dear."

"Haha, don't worry. At least your husband is better than mine. Remember the dinner party where Alex spat out his food from laughing so hard? I had to use Evan as an excuse to leave the table because I was so embarrassed," Alex sighed.

"Cough! Anyway, I received a package for the three of you from the Academy," Alex blushed as he tried to change the subject.

"Oh? What kind of package?" Sophia asked curiously as she cut her omelet into small pieces.

"Why don't you take a look yourselves?" Jeff showed us the package on the table.

I had a feeling I knew what it was, but before opening it, I stepped outside to place the letter in the village mailbox.

"Huff, that should do it. I'll head back inside," I muttered, sensing someone watching me from outside. I turned around to scan the area.

My entire body shivered. Whoever was watching me wasn't ordinary. Just as I turned back, someone covered my mouth with their hand and took me away from Eva's residence.

My vision went black; I couldn't see who was kidnapping me. All I knew was that they held me with strong wings.

When my vision cleared, I found myself in an abandoned place within the city. The person who kidnapped me threw me to the ground.

I fell hard, the throw strong enough to hurt. My vision blurred, and I faintly heard the person talking to someone, seemingly a woman. "I've brought him, ma'am."

"Good job."

Damn it, this is why I hate Mondays. So much always happens on this day.

"Cough... Cough! Hey, what do you want from me?" I asked, getting back on my feet and turning to face them.

I clenched my fists, ready to attack with my Element already enveloping my hands.

"Calm down," the woman said, her eyes glowing red.

Oddly enough, after she spoke, my Element disappeared without me commanding it. "Is she neutralizing my Element?" I wondered.

"I just wanted to introduce myself," she said. I saw she was a girl about my age, but her tone was strange.

"Couldn't you have done that without kidnapping me?" I grumbled, annoyed at her method. This girl was crazy.

She just smiled. Was she a psychopath?

"Watch your words!" The servant beside her was angry, even though I hadn't said anything. Wait! Could she read my thoughts?

The girl walked slowly towards me. "First, let me introduce myself. My name is Abigail."

Up close, Abigail looked incredibly beautiful with her glowing red eyes.
