Zuo Xiangning brought a few small dishes she made in the small kitchen and went to Madame Jiang's courtyard in the evening.
Madame Jiang's courtyard was silent as a graveyard, with maids and old women all trembling with fear, wishing they could walk on tiptoes to avoid making any noise that might further anger Madame Jiang.
"Mother?" Zuo Xiangning set the dishes on the table and pulled Madame Jiang to sit down, "I made a few dishes specially for you, please try them and see how they taste?"
"Since when did you learn how to cook?" Madame Jiang asked, forcing a cheerful smile as she accepted the chopsticks.
"I learned while at the Borderlands." Zuo Xiangning proudly said as she helped Madame Jiang set the dishes, "My elder brother and my uncle both say that my cooking is delicious."
"That's because they don't get to eat anything good." A much more natural smile spread across Madame Jiang's face.
