Lingxiao, holding the jade pendant in his hand, went to Marquis Zhongyuan's Mansion.
Marquis Zhongyuan had contracted a chill these past few days and was resting in the study of the outer court. Seeing Lingxiao come in from the outside cheered him up immensely. He hurriedly stood up and walked toward Lingxiao.
"How come you're here at this time? Have you had dinner yet?"
Lingxiao looked at the man who had seemingly aged more than a decade in a short year, a flash of heartache crossed his eyes.
"I haven't."
"Then stay and eat here," Marquis Zhongyuan hurriedly ordered servants to prepare a meal.
Lingxiao said, "I dare not eat the food from the mansion. Let's go out to eat,"
Marquis Zhongyuan's brow furrowed as he said, "Fine, then you pick the place."
Lingxiao turned and walked toward the exit, with Marquis Zhongyuan following behind him.
People in and out of the courtyard were startled by the sudden appearance of Lingxiao.
