It wasn't until one day, Ji Nianwen ran to the door of the study but paused outside when he heard a voice coming from within.
"Ye Li, you can't play favorites."
The voice was still calm, yet Ji Nianwen detected a hint of grievance in it.
Grievance?
His dad felt aggrieved?
No sooner had this thought emerged than Ji Nianwen vehemently dismissed it. He took a deep breath, pushed open the door, and instantly saw his fairy-like mother being held in his father's arms, his father's hand pinching her cheek.
Upon seeing Ji Nianwen, Ji Yanchen nonchalantly let go of his hand and looked towards Ji Nianwen at the doorway with a pair of light and clear eyes, "What's up?"
"Dad, I finished my homework," Ji Nianwen obediently handed his homework to Ji Yanchen.
Ye Li shook off the hand around her waist and kissed Ji Yanchen on the cheek, "Then you check Nianwen's homework, we're going to play first."
