Late March.
The day before Baby Chenchen turned one year old, Lai Zhiyun and her family of three returned to their hometown along with other family members.
As they were hosting a banquet in their hometown, Grandfather Zhou and Grandmother Zhou had come back five days earlier to arrange all kinds of preparations for the feast.
The invitations had already been sent out. After lunch and dinner, many relatives came to the house, all to see the baby.
Zhou Liao carried the baby while Lai Zhiyun sat next to him, greeting the relatives who came visiting with Grandfather and Grandmother Zhou.
Baby Chenchen was not shy.
Aunties, uncles, great-aunties, little uncles, and others called him Chenchen, and he would just smile.
Calling him baby made him smile as well.
But if someone reached out wanting to hold him, he would directly turn away, his chubby face nuzzled into his dad's left shoulder, refusing by action, not allowing anyone to hold him.
