Lai Zhiyun got up and shuffled to the edge of the bed to sit.
Zhou Liao squatted down, picked up the slippers, and slid them onto her feet, then turned on the room's overhead light.
Once her feet touched the ground, Zhou Liao helped her up.
"I can do it myself."
Groggily, she walked toward the bathroom, with Zhou Liao following behind, waiting at the bathroom door.
Over the past few months of her pregnancy, Lai Zhiyun had grown accustomed to Zhou Liao's overprotectiveness.
If Zhou Liao wanted to follow her around, she simply let him.
Coming out of the bathroom, Lai Zhiyun had fully awakened.
As she walked back, the brilliantly colored flowers on the windowsill table easily caught her eye.
She approached for a closer look and turned back to ask Zhou Liao, "Are these for me?"
"Yes, it's now twelve o' two in the morning, happy birthday."
A new day had begun, and today was Zhiyun's birthday.
Zhou Liao, holding a gift, approached Zhiyun, "Sit down first."
