The Zang Ao retracted its paw awkwardly, tucking it back in silence after she poked it.
"Come clean, did Bo Jingcheng send you to keep me company? Where have you been lately? I haven't seen you around the last couple of days," Ji Shunuan asked in a low voice.
Even though the Zang Ao couldn't speak, having it by her side seemed to dispel the need for wild thoughts.
Ji Shunuan sat on the edge of the bed holding the Zang Ao, which rubbed its head against her face in a gesture of affection, prompting her to lean down and kiss the dog's forehead.
"Woof," the Zang Ao suddenly barked when she kissed it.
It froze in place before turning and burrowing under the covers to hide, leaving only two shy little paws sticking out.
"..." Ji Shunuan watched its sudden move.
Looking down, she noticed the Zang Ao peeking out from under the covers, locking eyes with her before scrambling back in panic, its laughter barely audible.
