Chapter 122 - Call Your Daddy

Blake wanted to go over and say hello, maybe have a discussion where it wouldn't matter who bid for the artifacts as long as they were taken back home.

But since they were Competitors...

"15 million!"

Blake lazily raised his bidding paddle.

At this moment, Kohei looked over at Blake, with a hint of provocation in his eyes.

"18 million!"

Kohei raised his paddle again.

"Uh... what's wrong with this guy? Raising the bid is one thing, but what's with that look? Does he not know who I am?"

Blake said to Natasha, a bit surprised.

Recently, Blake's actions in the U.S. Senate, along with dismantling the Red Room organization and Captain America's involvement in smashing terrorist plots under the Avengers banner, had made many people around the world notice Blake's name.

While he wasn't as universally recognized as the Avengers after the Battle of New York in the movies, the strange Senate event was forcibly suppressed by the government.

But no secret stays hidden forever. While ordinary people might not know, top elites were aware.

Threatening the entire U.S. Senate single-handedly, Blake's name was now recognized worldwide as one of the people you definitely shouldn't mess with.

So Blake found it odd—was Kohei Ryouguchi crazy?

"25 million!"

Blake raised his paddle again.

"30 million!"

Kohei bid once more, though his emotions were starting to show.

Blake smiled slightly.

"40 million!"

The auctioneer was beside himself with joy.

"40 million, 40 million euros! Mr. Blake has bid 40 million euros! My God, that's an insane price. Is there anyone else willing to raise the bid?"

"40 million going once, 40 million going twice, 40 million going three times! Congratulations to Mr. Blake! This auction has set a new record for the price of the Zodiac head statues!"

As the auctioneer's excited voice rang out, the hammer came down with a thud.

On Kohei's side, an angry shout of could be heard.

"Dear, it seems you've really upset that spoiled little boy!" Natasha said with a laugh.

Blake gave Kohei a meaningful glance and suddenly raised his paddle again.

"And now we... Mr. Blake, the next item hasn't been presented yet. Do you have something to say? Very well, no problem! Everyone, it seems Mr. Blake has something to say! Let's pause the auction for a moment and welcome Mr. Blake!"

The auctioneer led the applause.

"What are you going to do?" Natasha asked Blake, watching him.

"I won, so I'm going to give a victory speech, darling!" Blake smiled slightly, stood up, and walked onto the stage.

"Many of you know that I am Blake, and the Zodiac heads are national treasures and artifact's that I am interested in. I appreciate everyone showing some restraint in the bidding just now and not competing with me!"

Blake gave a polite nod to everyone in the room. In fact, the reason many who recognized him stopped bidding wasn't just out of respect, but because his bid had already far exceeded the normal price. No one here was foolish.

"As an Asian, of course, I hope every national treasure can return to their countries! Up next, there's still a rabbit head and a mysterious item, also said to be from Asia. I hope everyone will continue to show restraint, and for my sake, allow our historical artifacts to return to their homeland. Thank you, everyone!"

Blake bowed slightly, and the audience gave him face, with many offering enthusiastic applause.

By all accounts, this should have been the end of his speech.

But Blake waited for the applause to die down, then revealed a strange smile.

He pointed directly in the direction of Kohei Ryouguchi and said, "Of course, what I just said does not include Bidder No. 146—Mr. Kohei Ryouguchi, who kept bidding against me earlier!"

"It seems Mr. Ryouguchi has a deep interest in artifact's and culture as well, which I can understand."

"Given that, I'm curious—why did Mr. Ryouguchi suddenly give up on the rat head just now? Was it because your daddy didn't give you enough pocket money?"

"Oh! Poor child. There's still a rabbit head coming up next. I've stalled long enough, so go ahead and call your dad for help. I'll be waiting!"

*Crack!*

As soon as Blake finished speaking, Kohei snapped his paddle in half.

With so many people watching, Kohei couldn't possibly pull out his phone to call his father.

When the rabbit head came up next, Kohei didn't bid again, and Blake won it for 8 million euros.

But after the rabbit head auction ended, Kohei suddenly stood up and walked straight over to Blake.

"You punk, no one has ever spoken to me like that. You're dead, do you hear me? You're dead!"

Kohei leaned in close, staring at Blake with crazed eyes.

Blake slowly turned to exchange a glance with Natasha.

Had this guy lost his mind?

Blake was even more confused—was this really the heir to Ryouguchi Heavy Industries?

What Blake didn't know was that Kohei's life was a tragedy. He was the illegitimate son of Shunsuke, and his mother had died long ago.

Shunsuke had once had a legitimate son, but he died prematurely, leaving Shunsuke childless in old age. He later found Kohei by chance, but by then, Kohei had been drifting through society for years, indulging in all kinds of vices—drug use, fighting, gambling. He was a low-level thug.

Suddenly being recognized by such a father, and with Shunsuke compensating for lost time, it was no surprise that Kohei had developed such a terrible character.

Blake, on the verge of anger, laughed instead and said to Kohei, "You're threatening me? I suggest you call your daddy first and ask him. If he finds out you're threatening me, he'll definitely spank you when you get home, kid!"

Blake lightly patted Kohei's face twice.

Then, his tone abruptly shifted.

"Get out of my sight right now, and I'll pretend you didn't just say what you said. Otherwise..."

Blake didn't finish the sentence, but the look he gave Kohei was one of death.

Surprisingly, Kohei doubled down.

Instead of leaving, he grabbed Blake by the collar and said, "How dare you threaten me, you damn bastard son of wh*re..."

*Bang!*

The moment those words left his mouth, Blake's expression darkened.

In the next instant, Kohei was sent flying backward, hurtling from the second-to-last row of the hall to the front of the stage.

It was fortunate that the hall was designed like a theater, with the back higher than the front, or else Kohei would have crashed into many people.

The auctioneer was in the middle of introducing the next item when, with a whoosh, a figure flew past him, slamming into the wall behind the stage.

Kohei's body then slid down limply from the several meters-high wall, as if his bones had disappeared.

*******************************************

I have put a lot of effort in translating this chapter and the other in this auction arc.

It is all about the protagonist claiming I am from China and I want my national treasures you are from Japan and are like son and China is your father.

All this shit. So I had to change it accordingly. So if the chapter feels off please bear with it.
