Winning money from Blake was definitely something to be happy about.
Just as he finished speaking, the alarm went off; someone had broken in.
Coulson quickly looked at the monitors.
They saw a tall, muscular man with long golden hair outside the tent, knocking down several guards and heading straight for the hammer.
Coulson felt an inexplicable sense of danger to his hair when he saw a young, strong man on the monitor who looked as strong as a bull.
"Everyone fall back. Don't engage with this person. I repeat, fall back to your posts and let him through!"
To test his theory, Coulson ordered the guards to clear a path.
"Let's go! Let's check it out ourselves," Blake said, pulling Coulson and Black Widow toward the hammer's location.
When they arrived, Thor had just reached the hammer as well. Oblivious to the three newcomers, he gazed at the hammer with a look of longing, muttering to himself.
"I finally found you! I will..."
"Excuse me, sir, this area is off-limits. But judging by your expression, it looks like you've lost your most beloved. Is this your boyfriend? It doesn't seem very practical to use," Blake interrupted Thor's monologue, pointing at the hammer with a grin.
Thor tilted his head, taking a full ten seconds to grasp Blake's meaning.
"How dare you blaspheme the gods! I am Thor, the God of Thunder from Asgard, son of Odin, the Allfather. I am..."
Blake cut him off again, "Alright, alright! You want to reunite with your partner. It's right there, so go ahead and take it back!"
Coulson and Black Widow were shocked. This man's words matched exactly with what Blake had told them.
As top agents skilled in reading people, they could tell this seemingly deranged man was telling the truth. Or he was a madman, but the coincidence of his ranting aligning perfectly with Blake's story was too great to ignore.
Thor, before his time on Earth, was a brute who spoke without thinking. Instead of grabbing the hammer immediately, he spat some threats at Blake first.
"Fine, you blasphemous wretch. Once I reclaim my hammer, I'll teach you the meaning of respecting the gods!"
Blake, Black Widow, and Coulson all rolled their eyes in unison. Black Widow and Coulson even started doubting their instincts, thinking this guy might just be a lunatic.
Ignoring the others, Thor approached the hammer, confident as ever. He grasped the handle and pulled. It didn't budge.
"Argh!!!!"
Using both hands and all his strength, his face turned red, but the hammer remained immobile.
"Father, why? Why, ahhhh!!!!"
Thor, never having faced real consequences before, didn't take Odin's warnings seriously. He believed that reclaiming the hammer would let him return to Asgard and prove himself right.
But the hammer's refusal to move shattered his confidence. A deep sense of abandonment overwhelmed him.
"It seems like your boyfriend is mad at you. Is it because you found a new boyfriend? Let me guess, is it an axe or a mace?"
Blake grinned mischievously.
For some reason, seeing the serious and even somewhat melodramatic expression on Thor's face made Blake want to tease him. Despite being over a thousand years old, Thor still seemed like a child who had lost his favorite toy.
"You bastard!" Thor's heartbreak and frustration morphed into anger at Blake's words.
With a roar, he charged at Blake in a fit of rage.
"Poor kid, you need a good night's sleep!"
Without his divine powers, Thor might handle ordinary people, but he was no match for Blake. Blake sidestepped and delivered a swift chop to the back of Thor's neck. Thor staggered and collapsed to the ground.
"Find somewhere to put this poor guy. He's not a threat anymore. Someone will likely come looking for him tomorrow."
"Someone will come for him? Another god?"
Coulson, despite Thor's failure to lift the hammer, had a gut feeling Blake was right.
"A physicist. You should have a few people follow them. Their research will bring you some unexpected surprises," Blake said as he walked out.
"Natasha, what do you think? About what Blake said," Coulson asked Black Widow after Blake left.
"It sounds hard to believe. Whether it's about gods or Asgard, or someone coming for him tomorrow, this hammer speaks volumes. Even though I don't know how Blake knows all this, he may seem unserious at times, but he's trustworthy, isn't he?"
...
Blake, turning to leave, asked the system in his mind, "System, I should have completed Thor's task by now. Why haven't I received any points? I swear he'll never forget me."
The system assigned a task for each superhero Blake met, requiring him to leave a lasting impression. This time was no different.
[Thor doesn't know the host's name yet. The task isn't complete.] the system responded unemotionally.
Blake realized he had forgotten to tell Thor his name. It would have been awkward to introduce himself in that situation.
[A new task is available. The host may choose to accept or reject it.] the system said again.
"Oh? Tell me more."
[During Thor's exile on Earth, help him undergo a transformation and regain the recognition of Mjolnir. Completing the task will earn the host the friendship of Odin, the Allfather.]
This task was similar to the one with Banner, though the reward of Hulk serum was more tangible. Odin's friendship?
Blake pondered this reward.
"System, why did you specifically mention I could choose to accept or reject this task?" he asked.
[Odin exiled Thor to Earth to help him become a worthy king. If the host aids in this process, he will attract Asgard's attention, and Odin will be grateful. While Odin's gratitude could lead to unexpected gains, entering his sight at this time might not be beneficial.]
Blake understood; it was a double-edged sword.
After a brief hesitation, he said to the system, "I accept!"
