Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Original Sin

RUMBLE

With a loud rumble, the iron red gate swung open. "Please, Sir, follow me inside," the girl said with a gesture. Felix smiled and followed her in.

A light blue stone path stretched out before them, lined with flower beds, delicate female stone statues, and small interconnected paths.

Felix looked around and nodded, satisfied with the entrance.

"Sir, may I ask how I should address you?" the girl respectfully inquired.

"My name is Felix Morningstar," Felix chuckled.

"Hello, Mr. Felix, my name is Clair," the girl introduced herself.

Felix turned to Clair and said, " Miss Clair can you introduce the basic information of the mansion?".

" Of course Mr.Felix ".Clair smiled and led Felix on a tour.

" The mansion is 77,000 square feet with a 30-foot high wall made of high-quality and extremely hard materials, even a Tier 2 Knight will find it very difficult to break down the wall. There is one main villa, seven secondary villas and other small houses, a lake with a pavilion, ponds, statues, and exotic flowers that made the mansion visually appealing. Additionally, there are three Cultivation rooms with a 1 Star Mana Gathering Formation, two 50-meter training grounds, and all the basic necessities for living comfortably ".

Felix was impressed with the mansion, especially learning that the walls could withstand attacks from a Tier 2 Mana Cultivators.

He was even more thrilled to hear about the Cultivation rooms equipped with a Mana Gathering Formation.

Although this mansion was one of the more basic ones in the first layer of the Edel District, for him and the others, it was already enough.

"Miss Clair, I'm extremely satisfied with this mansion, but I don't know about the price," Felix chuckled.

"Don't worry about it, Mr. Felix. The price is very low and it's not expensive," Clair hurriedly said.

"So, how much is it?" Felix asked.

"Mr. Felix, this mansion is priced at 150,000 Gold Coins," Clair said with a nervous look as she glanced at Felix.

It was her first time selling a mansion since she was hired, and she didn't want her first client to be scared off by the price.

Felix felt his heart shake when he heard the price. His face changed slightly. 150,000 Gold Coins!

He didn't expect this mansion to be so expensive, but fortunately, he can still afford it. He have two chests filled with 100,000 Gold Coins each, totaling 200,000 Gold Coins.

Previously he bought a building in the Audaz District for 10,000, and now this mansion costs 150,000 Gold Coins, adding up to 160,000 Gold Coins.

Felix took a deep breath when he calculated in his heart that he spent 160,000 of the 200,000 Gold Coins, leaving 40,000 Gold Coins left.

" Shit! Trinity is going to kill me," Felix sweated a little as he thought about it.

He smiled bitterly as he looked at Clair.

Clair's face changed slightly when she saw Felix's expression. "Oh no, my first client is gone," she thought bitterly.

"Miss Clair, I'll take this mansion," suddenly Felix's voice sounded.

"Okay, Mr. Felix, you can come ba... Wait, what? You're going to buy the mansion?" Clair shot a shocked look at Felix.

"Yes, Miss Clair," Felix nodded.

Clair was thrilled when she heard from Felix that they had a deal. She never thought Felix could afford the mansion, but it turns out he was loaded with 150,000 Gold Coins to spare. The commission she would get from this sale was going to be massive.

If Felix knew what Clair was thinking, he would have rolled his eyes.

"Miss Clair, when can we finish up the paperwork?" Felix asked.

"Mr. Felix, please follow me so we can get everything sorted," Clair said eagerly. They hopped into a carriage and headed back to the six-story building.

After grabbing the necessary papers, Felix handed over the 150,000 Gold Coins and received the deeds for the mansion. It stung a bit to see all that money go, but Clair happily accepted it.

"Nice doing business with you, Mr. Felix," Clair beamed.

"Likewise," Felix forced a smile.

"Whenever you want to do business again, please come back and I'll be ready to help," Clair said warmly.

" Fuck! Who wants to do business with you " .Felix cursed under his breath.

"Oh, Mr. Felix, we also offer services to hire staff for your mansion. Interested?" Clair called after him.

Felix's lips twitched in annoyance. "Thanks, but not right now," he replied without looking back.

" Damm, do this girl want to empty my pockets ".

Clair's disappointment was evident in her eyes as Felix hurried out of the building.

It seemed like he was practically running.

Felix quickly jumped onto the carriage and with a crack of the whip, the horse sped off into the distance.

His lips kept twitching when he thought about the money he had spent on the mansion, his heart was practically bleeding.

Even though the mansion was expensive, Felix believed it was worth it. He had his reasons for buying such a lavish property and had thought it through carefully. He was planning to open a high-class restaurant in Brigdemoor City, knowing that it would attract attention. If people found out he lived in a poor area, it could cause trouble. So, buying the mansion in the Edel District seemed like the right move. It was in the first layer of the district, so hopefully, no one would suspect anything.

Felix was even preparing fake backgrounds for himself and others to avoid any connections to his past. He knew that if his true background was exposed, it could lead to disastrous consequences.

Greed is an original sin, and he didn't want to be chased by bunch of powerful people.

The human heart is a complex thing. It's hard to understand what goes on in someone's heart. You never know when someone with bad intentions might come along and cause harm. Felix knew that he doesn't have the strength or any powerful background to rely on . So He has to be careful in everything he does until he have the strength to protect himself and the others. One wrong move could be deadly for him and those around him.

Although he had the system to rely on, Felix knew he couldn't depend on it entirely. He had to be cautious and avoid drawing any unwanted attention to himself.

So, despite the high cost, buying the mansion was a necessary step to keep himself and others safe for the time being.

PS : I will be renaming Knight Cultivation and Mage Cultivation to Mana Cultivators, as both systems utilize the same type of energy. Using Knight Cultivation and Mage Cultivation is unnecessarily lengthy.
