Felix was deeply engrossed in thought as Nixie recounted Chef Gideon's life story. He sighed, contemplating the tale of a culinary genius who had once reached the pinnacle of success only to be brought down by jealousy and betrayal.
It was a tragic reminder that success can be fleeting, and even the most talented individuals are not immune to the pitfalls of life.
Chef Gideon's downfall was particularly poignant, as it was fueled by his lack of powerful connections and his humble background.
Despite his exceptional talents, he was ultimately unable to withstand the forces working against him.
Felix shook his head in disbelief at the twists and turns of Chef Gideon's life,it was both a mix of fortune and misfortune.
" Damm! What a pitiful and sad life, even a Romance-Action packed novel wouldn't dare to write something like that " Felix hissed and muttered under his breath.
"Oh, Nixie, how did you come to know all of this?" Felix asked with curiosity.
"Hehehe! Big bro Chef Gideon told me himself," Nixie giggled.
Felix nodded but he was surprised, he didn't expect this guy to be so broadminded that he can share his tragic life story with someone.
" Big bro, do you think you can convince Chef Gideon to work for you " Nixie asked while looking ahead.
Felix shook his head, " I don't know but at least we need to try " .
Felix knew that the chances of him being able to hire Chef Gideon is low after hearing his story from Nixie. Even when he was in his peak, he rejected Nobles and it's even said that he even rejected the Royal Family how can he a poor bastard with nothing and lives in the slums able to recruit a 1 Star Spirit Chef even though his past glory is gone but still he is a 1 Star Spirit Chef and Spirit Chef are very known for pride.
Narrowing his eyes, Felix eyes flashed with faint light, " Even if my chances are low, I'll still have to try and maybe I'll be....".
" Big bro, we are already here ".
Just then Nixie voice drew Felix out of his
thoughts as he looked ahead.
Felix gazed down the path and spotted a grand, yet solitary mansion looming in the distance.
Surprised, he scanned the area and realized they had left the busy streets far behind, finding themselves in a remote part of the city with only the mansion in sight. The surroundings were eerily quiet, with only the sounds of birds and insects breaking the silence.
"This part of the city seems pretty remote. People rarely come here," Nixie remarked casually.
"Why is that?" Felix inquired.
"Well, the land within a twenty-mile radius has all been bought up by Chef Gideon," Nixie chuckled.
Felix nodded, not too shocked that one person owned such a vast expanse of land. In his previous life, he had encountered people who owned even larger plots.
"Alright, big bro, let's go. And when you meet Chef Gideon, watch your words," Nixie warned playfully, skipping ahead with her pink hair fluttering in the breeze.
Felix smiled and followed closely behind. After a few minutes, they reached the imposing gates of the mansion, surrounded only by a few weathered statues.
Nixie stood before the gates, turned to Felix, and gave a slight nod. Felix returned the gesture.
Nixie took a deep breath and pounded on the gates. After a couple of minutes with no response, she tried again, but still, no one appeared.
"Maybe he's not home," Felix frowned.
Nixie shook her head. "No, Chef Gideon is always at home."
As Nixie raised her fist to knock once more, the gates suddenly swung open. She took a step back, and Felix's expression turned serious as a figure emerged from the mansion.
"Who's banging on my door? Do you want to destroy it?" a raspy voice called out.
Felix eyed the figure with a weird look in his eyes.
The man who appeared before them was in his thirties, with long, unkempt black hair and a messy beard.
He was wearing loose black clothes and holding a bottle that seemed to contain wine. His eyes were grey, his face pale with a few wrinkles, and there were streaks of white hair mixed in with his unkempt hair. His entire body reeked of wine.
"Who are you?" the man asked, seeming a bit out of it.
"I'm Nixie, the maid who worked for you a few months ago," Nixie replied.
This man was Gideon Ashford, the 1 Star Spirit Chef, or Chef Gideon.
He seemed to snap out of his daze for a moment and said, "Oh, I remember you. You're the jumpy and mischievous little girl."
" Mr.Gideon you remember me?".Nixie's eyes lit up when Chef Gideon recognized her.
She knew he didn't like being called Chef Gideon, so she only used that name when he wasn't around.
"How could I forget you?" Chef Gideon smiled.
" Mr. Gideon this is my big brother Felix ". Nixie quickly introducedFelix, who was standing nearby.
" Nice to meet you Mr.Gideon ".
Felix greeted Chef Gideon, who nodded in response.
"My big brother wants to talk to you about something," Nixie said.
"Oh, then please, come inside," Chef Gideon said, opening the gate for them.
As Felix entered the mansion, he looked around curiously. The inside of the mansion was large, with other buildings in a dilapidated state. Despite that, the surroundings were clean and tidy.
It was clear that Chef Gideon took good care of his house, aside from the rundown buildings.
Chef Gideon grabbed both of them and settled under a tree a short distance from the entrance.
"So, what's on your mind?" he asked, leaning back in his chair.
Felix took a deep breath. "Mr. Gideon, I want to hire you," he said, staring directly into Chef Gideon's eyes.
Chef Gideon was taken aback for a moment, but then regained his composure. "Ha ha ha! You want me to work for you? Look at me, I'm a drunkard. What could I possibly have to offer?" he chuckled, taking a swig of wine.
Felix narrowed his eyes, a glint of determination in them. "Mr. Gideon, I know you have something valuable - a talent that people would kill for, your cooking skills."
Chef Gideon was shocked, his face slowly turning red. "Get out!" he yelled, standing up in a fit of rage.
Felix was surprised by Chef Gideon's sudden anger. "Mr. Gideon..." Nixie began, looking worried.
"I said get out! I don't want to repeat myself," Chef Gideon bellowed, pointing towards the door.
Felix frowned at Chef Gideon's outburst. He didn't expect just the mention of the word cooking talent and this motherfucker just started roaring like an angry beast.
But then his expression softened. "Mr. Gideon, if you want us to leave, we will. But first, let me tell you a story. I promise it'll only take ten minutes."
Chef Gideon, still panting, slowly sat back down.
Felix smiled, relieved to see Chef Gideon calming down.
