Chapter 18 - CHAPTER 18 : NAMI'S PAST 2

As Nami spoke, the people around them felt sympathy for her, and Sanji started fuming with anger.

"How dare those pirates do this to Nami?" Luffy spoke, his voice filled with righteous fury.

"Yeah, how dare they! We will teach them a lesson," Usopp and Sanji echoed.

Nami, seeing this, had a smile on her face but immediately spoke, "No, you don't know how powerful those fishmen are. Their bodies are ten times stronger than ours."

"Ah! Don't worry about that. You still don't understand human potential. Don't worry, we are strong," Alex reassured her.

Nami looked at Alex, pondering his words. "What do you mean?" she asked.

"You probably don't know the power levels of the people in the Grand Line. I know about a lot of things in the Grand Line, so let me tell you. Arlong is a nobody in the Grand Line. He was captured by the Navy a long time ago but was released when another fishman demanded his freedom in exchange for joining the Shichibukai. Luffy here is probably stronger than Arlong, maybe even Zoro," Alex explained.

" the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, was one of the strongest in his time, and he didn't have a Devil Fruit. He was from East Blue too, a normal person just like you. After a few months, you will also be strong enough to defeat Arlong without much effort," Alex continued to brief her about the power levels in the Grand Line.

The people around listened carefully when they heard Alex mention the Grand Line. They had always heard stories but didn't know much about the actual situation in the sea. Hearing Alex talk about the Grand Line and the Pirate King, the people became very interested.

After Alex told the crew about the power levels and bounties of the people in the Grand Line, Nami and the crew were shocked to hear about the enormous bounties.

"B...B...Billions? Do people have that much bounty on them? Does the Navy actually pay that much money for someone?" Nami asked curiously, astonished by the unimaginable numbers.

"Yeah, they do, but the pirates in that league are usually part of the Four Emperors' crews, so the Navy doesn't capture them without much thought. But Arlong is just a small pirate; the Navy shouldn't have much problem capturing him," Alex explained as he looked at Lieutenant Fullbody, who was listening quietly.

"W...why are you looking at me like that? I don't know about this. We never received any distress or emergency call from their village or the marine branch near them," Fullbody spoke defensively.

"Hmm... I remember Captain Kuro was also declared dead by that marine branch, and he was disguising himself after that. And now this. It's probably the marine captain that's corrupted and tried to hide Arlong. They must have some kind of deal," Alex speculated.

"No, no, the Navy doesn't do that. It's always you pirates that do these kinds of things," Fullbody protested, defending the Navy.

"There are always some corrupted people among big organizations, even the Four Emperors are not exceptions. Why can't the Navy be?" Alex countered.

"Let's do one thing," Alex began, his voice steady. "If we want to expose Captain Nezumi and ensure he can't protect Arlong any longer, we need proof of his corruption."

"But how do we get that?" Usopp asked, his brow furrowed in thought.

"We'll need to gather evidence," Alex replied. "First, we need to find documents or anything that links Nezumi to Arlong. Secondly, we need to make sure that when we present this evidence, it reaches someone in the Navy who isn't corrupt."

"That sounds like a good plan, but how do we get those documents?" Nami asked, still worried about the potential dangers.

"We'll need a distraction," Alex explained. "We'll give Nami the money to go to Arlong and pay for her village's freedom. While Arlong is busy with Nami, Usopp and Sanji will sneak into Nezumi's office to gather evidence. Meanwhile, Luffy, Zoro, and I will go with Nami to confront Arlong."

"Sounds good," Sanji said, lighting a cigarette. "We'll make sure we get the evidence."

"And we'll take care of Arlong," Zoro added, his hand on his sword.

Fullbody, still hesitant, nodded slowly. "Alright, I'll help. If Nezumi is really corrupt, it goes against everything the Navy stands for."

"Good," Alex said with a nod. "Now, here's how we do it. First, we need to sail to the Conomi Islands. We can use the Going Merry to get there quickly."

The crew nodded in agreement, their resolve strengthening with each passing moment.

As they prepared to set sail, Nami approached Alex, her expression a mix of gratitude and anxiety. "Thank you, Alex. For everything."

Alex smiled warmly. "We're a crew, Nami. We'll always have each other's backs."

"You guys prepare the ship, I have something important to do here," Alex said as he made his way toward the other people standing, the crew started to prepare the ship.

With that, the crew set off towards the Conomi Islands, their hearts steeled for the challenges ahead. They knew the risks, but they also knew they couldn't stand by while Arlong and Nezumi continued their reign of terror.

The journey to the Conomi Islands was filled with tense anticipation. As the Going Merry approached the island, the crew could see the familiar landscape that Nami had described—villages oppressed under Arlong's tyrannical rule.

As the Going Merry approached the Conomi Islands, the crew could feel the tension in the air. This was Nami's home, the place where her painful past was rooted. They docked the ship in a hidden cove, and Nami, her heart heavy, led them towards the village.

Nami decided to go ahead alone. "I need to do this by myself," she said, her voice firm but shaky.

"We understand," Luffy said, giving her a reassuring nod.

"Be careful," Zoro added, watching her with concern.

Alex, however, had a plan of his own. He secretly took out his phone, a piece of technology from his world, and prepared to record anything important.

As Nami walked into the village, the familiar faces of the villagers greeted her with wary smiles. They had all suffered under Arlong's rule, and Nami was their only hope.

"Welcome back, Nami," said Genzo, the village head, his face lined with worry. "Is everything alright?"

"I'm here to pay off our debt to Arlong," Nami replied, holding up the sack of money.

The villagers gasped in astonishment. "You've done it? You've saved us?" a villager exclaimed.

"I hope so," Nami said, her eyes determined. "I'm going to Arlong Park now."

Before she could leave, her sister Nojiko approached, her face a mixture of relief and concern. "Nami, are you sure about this? Arlong is dangerous."

"I know," Nami replied, hugging her sister tightly. "But this is the only way to save our village."

As Nami walked towards Arlong Park, the crew watched from a distance, their hearts heavy with concern. Alex kept a keen eye on the surroundings.

Suddenly, a commotion erupted. Captain Nezumi appeared with his marine soldiers, a smug grin on his face. "Well, well, what do we have here? A thief's stash of treasure," he sneered.

"Nezumi!" Nami shouted, her eyes blazing with anger. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to confiscate this money," Nezumi replied, snatching the sack from her hands. "It's illegal, after all."

Nami's heart sank. "You can't do this! This money is for the village's freedom!"

Nezumi laughed. "Too bad. The law is the law."

As this unfolded, Alex took out his smartphone that he bought while he was checking out the new feature, and quickly started recording it. He knew this evidence would be crucial. The rest of the crew, seeing Nezumi's actions, prepared to rush in, but Alex held up a hand to stop them.

"Wait," Alex whispered. "We need more proof. Let Nami handle this for now."

Nami, now desperate, tried to fight back, but Nezumi's soldiers restrained her. As she watched her hard-earned money being taken away, tears streamed down her face.

The marines left, and Nami, devastated, made her way to Arlong Park. The crew followed at a safe distance, their hearts aching for her.

At Arlong Park, Nami confronted Arlong. "Arlong! I brought the money, but the marines took it!"

Arlong lounged in his chair, a cruel smile on his face. "Oh, Nami, you really thought you could buy your village's freedom? You're naive. You still don't realize that the marines are with us."

"You promised!" Nami shouted, her voice breaking. "You promised if I brought the money, you'd let us go!"

Arlong laughed. "Promises? To a human? How foolish."

As this heartbreaking scene unfolded, Alex continued to record, capturing Arlong's betrayal and Nami's despair. He knew this evidence would be crucial in exposing both Arlong and Nezumi.

Nami fell to her knees, tears streaming down her face. "Why? Why would you do this?"

"Because it's fun
