1:00 A.M. – At Rhodes' Penthouse
Adam moved through the luxurious confines of Rhodes' penthouse, his presence as undetectable as ever. The soft clack of his shoes against the polished marble floor was the only sound as he approached the study. The darkness around him folded like a shroud as he neared his target.
Rhodes was on edge tonight, and for good reason. Halford had gone off the grid.
Still, Rhodes had his defenses, bodyguards stationed around the penthouse and alarm systems that should have kept him secure.
But security meant little against someone like Adam.
With practiced ease, Adam slipped past the last line of defense, entering the study where Rhodes was seated at his desk, a cigar smoldering between his fingers.
The man looked tired, but his eyes still held a glint of arrogance. That vanished the second Adam pressed a blade to his throat, pinning him to the leather chair in one swift motion.
