As the elevator descended, David leaned against the back wall, eyes closed. The quiet hum of the machine did little to soothe his racing mind.
It had been a long day, and even though he wasn't particularly tired, there was a strange weight hanging over him.
His phone buzzed, cutting through his thoughts. Pulling it out of his jacket, David glanced at the screen.
It was Jack.
David answered, his voice calm but curious. "Jack?"
"Good evening Young master, I wanted to remind you of the small private gathering tonight," Jack's voice was as calm and composed as always. "At the Kensington estate. The event begins at 8 PM."
David glanced at the time on his phone, mentally recalculating the time.
David sighed, rubbing his temple with his free hand. He hadn't forgotten about the gathering, but with everything that had happened today, it had certainly slipped his mind for a moment.
