David's eyes flicked back to Matt, his irritation growing. "You told me once you paid him, it'd be over."
Matt swallowed hard, looking down at the ground. "I thought it was... I didn't know..."
David shifted his focus back to the thug, his senses on high alert. His years of training had made him more than just a billionaire's son; he was aware of the world's dangers in a way he hadn't been before.
And this man, despite his arrogance, wasn't here alone. David could feel the presence of others in the shadows, watching, waiting, for the right time to pounce on them.
The man grinned, clearly enjoying the tension. "We'll be seeing you around, boys." He took a step back, his eyes gleaming with something dark and dangerous. "Enjoy your night while you can."
As the thug turned and disappeared into the shadows, David didn't relax. His instincts were still on edge, his senses scanning the area for any sign of further threats.
