David stepped out of Matt's crumbling room, his brows furrowing slightly as he glanced around the rundown building.
The hallway was dim, with flickering lights that did little to hide the peeling wallpaper and cracked floors. The air smelled damp and stale, the kind of place that made it hard to tell if you were truly alone or not.
Adam, who had been waiting for him by the stairwell, flashed a grin when he saw David. "Man, I don't know how Matt survives here. This place could make a prison look like a luxury resort."
David smirked at the comment but didn't respond immediately. His mind was still occupied by the conversation they had just had with Matt, who was under immense pressure.
Two days until Matt had to follow through with Carter's demands, and there was still no clear way out of the situation. Adam would figure something out. He always did.
