Chereads / Darko Chronicles: The Immortal Corruption / Chapter 10 - Commandment of Amon

Chapter 10 - Commandment of Amon

"Well, I really do feel sorry for that boy," Sai sighed as he prepared the training ground for Commander Morgan's use.

Morgan adjusted the sleeve of his blue suit, a wooden sword in hand, and said, "Well, he doesn't seem very promising."

Sai looked at him indignantly. "Then why did you take him on as a trainee? You could have just ignored him."

Morgan smiled. "There are three reasons. First, Elena somehow liked him, the second reason is that he's the grandson of that old man. Despite my deep hatred for him, I still owe him a lot."

"And the third and most important reason is that Park believes the boy might be a remnant of the Yoshita."

Sai wondered, "Yoshita?"

Morgan grinned. "Don't you know who the Yoshita are?"

"No," Sai replied.

Morgan laughed. "I don't know either."

Sai sighed "With all due respect, Commander Morgan, are you an idiot? If you don't know about them, why mention it as the most important reason?"

Morgan gave him a serious look for a moment before laughing. "Well, I don't know, but Park told me it's important, so I'll leave it at that."

Sai looked up at the sky and muttered to himself, "Why do I still follow this foolish commander?"

A few minutes later, Jin arrived at the training ground. "Oh boy, why are you late?" Morgan asked.

Jin replied, "Well, I got a bit lost. I'm still not used to the place."

Morgan scratched his chin and asked, "No matter. Anyway, is there any weapon you are particularly good with?"

Jin answered, "Well, I don't think there's a specific weapon I'm skilled with, but I used to chop wood daily with a rusty sword."

Morgan mocked him, "Who the hell chops wood with a rusty sword?"

Jin nodded and looked at him "That was my grandfather's idea, it is stupid idea right ? righhht ?"

Morgan laughed. "Well, that doesn't sound unusual for that man."

Morgan then picked up a wooden sword and tossed it to Jin. "Take this sword and come at me."

Jin lifted the sword and swung it a bit. "It's alright, not too heavy," he said as he approached Morgan.

Morgan's presence was truly intimidating. He was tall, muscular, with many scars on his face and body, showing he had fought in numerous battles throughout his life.

Jin looked up at Morgan, as he was much shorter in comparison. "Well, what do you want me to do?" Jin asked.

Morgan smiled. "You have to hit me with your sword at least once within the next hour."

Jin looked at him. "Just once? That seems easy."

Morgan laughed mockingly. "We'll see about that. But if you fail to hit me, you'll have to do a thousand push-ups a day."

Jin stared at him in disbelief. "A thousand times! Are you trying to kill me or what?"

Morgan laughed. "Weren't you confident you could hit me ? If you can't hit me then, start your push-ups now and don't waste my time."

Annoyed, Jin raised his wooden sword. "Alright, I'll show you."

Jin moved swiftly, swinging his sword to strike Morgan, but Morgan effortlessly parried the attack.

Jin darted slightly to the left, then aimed a slash at Morgan's leg, but once again, he failed.

Persisting with his attempts, Jin continued to swing, trying desperately to land a hit, but Morgan remained untouchable.

"What the hell are you doing? Do you think you can hit like this ?" Morgan mocked him.

Jin, breathing heavily, muttered, "Damn it, why can't I hit him?"

Regaining his composure, Jin tried to deceive Morgan.

He advanced, feigning an upward strike but instead crouched and aimed at Morgan's abdomen.

Yet, Morgan easily blocked this too...

Morgan sighed, "You're useless."

For the first time, Morgan moved toward Jin, swinging his sword powerfully.

Jin was unable to dodge so he tried to block with his wooden sword instead.

The impact was so strong that Jin was knocked back, crashing into the wall of the training ground.

"Argh!" Jin groaned in pain, coughing up a bit of blood as he glared at Morgan.

"What? Are you giving up already?" Morgan asked, his tone devoid of hope.

Biting his lip, Jin struggled to stand again, spitting blood from his mouth. "In your dreams," he retorted.

Morgan smiled, impressed by Jin's determination. "Alright then, show me what you'll do next."

Jin contemplated his next move. "Should I attack from the left and then try to hit him from behind?

"No, that won't work. Should I pretend to surrender and then strike deceptively?"

"What am I thinking? He's not that stupid," Jin thought, growing frustrated.

"So what should I do?"

After a moment, a good idea struck him. Jin prepared for another attack, with Morgan watching in amusement.

Secretly grabbing some sand from behind him, Jin pretended to struggle in pain while trying to stand.

Jin then swiftly moved towards Morgan, feinting a sword swing before quickly dropping to the ground and throwing the sand into Morgan's face.

The sand hit Morgan's eyes. "This is my chance," Jin said, charging at Morgan.

He aimed his sword fiercely at Morgan's abdomen, but...

Morgan smirked wickedly, dodging the attack with ease and moving with frightening speed to Jin's back.

He delivered a powerful kick to Jin's rear, causing Jin's head to slam into the ground.

"Haha, that was a good attempt, boy," Morgan laughed, wiping the dirt from his face.

Jin clutched his backside, groaning in pain. "fuck."

Morgan rested his sword on his shoulder. "Alright, do you want to continue? There's still at least another quarter of an hour."

Jin glared at him, frustrated. "I can't stand because of your damn kick."

Laughing, Morgan sheathed his sword. "Alright then, you'll start doing push-ups from tomorrow. Go back to your room and rest for a while."

With that, Morgan walked away, leaving Jin behind.

Jin struggled to stand, wobbling slightly. "Ah fuck , all my muscles hurt because of him."

Despite the embarrassment of his first day of training, Jin couldn't help but be impressed by Morgan's reactions. With a sigh, he made his way back to his room.

Jin sat on the bed, every muscle in his body aching. "Ugh, my back hurts so much."

He then rested his head on the pillow and stared at the ceiling, recalling his training with Morgan and trying to analyze the fight between them until he felt drowsy and fell asleep.

While Jin was sleeping, he suddenly found himself in an expansive, completely empty white space.

Jin was bewildered.

"What? Where am I? Am I dreaming?"

He kept looking around, then suddenly a voice echoed in his head. "We are the Wills of Amun. Are you ready to answer our call?"

Jin's expression changed to one of intense fear as he remembered what had happened to him that night. He recalled hearing these exact words before.

Jin remained tense, looking around, trying to find the source of the voice.

Then he said, "Who are you? What is the Will of Amun?"

The voice responded again, "We are the Wills of Amun. Are you ready to answer our call?"

Annoyed, Jin retorted, "Are you deaf or what? Why don't you answer my questions?"

The voice repeated once more, "We are the Wills of Amun. Are you ready to answer our call?"

Jin cursed under his breath and then realized something. "I don't think it will answer me unless I respond to its question."

"Should I accept its will? Wait, what if its will harms me?"

"No, no, what if I refuse? Will it kill me?"

Jin was torn about how to respond, but after deciding, he said, "Yes, I will accept it."

At that moment, Jin felt intense pain in his heart, his vision blurred, and the ground beneath him shook violently.

"Ugh, did I answer wrong? Am I going to die?"

As Jin was in excruciating pain, it suddenly stopped, and everything around him changed.

The vast white space transformed into a massive graveyard filled with the branches of black trees.

Jin looked around in horror as fear gripped his heart.

"What the fuck is this !!!"

Suddenly, a loud ringing echoed in his mind, !

Then, in front of him, a piece of old paper appeared, written in eerily glowing blood, with the words:

"Do you want to see the statistics? [ Yes / No ]"

Though terrified by what he saw, Jin managed to compose himself slightly and said, " Yes."

The text on the paper disappeared, replaced by new writing.

─────────────────────────

  [ Statistics ]

*Title: ....

*Rank: Fateless

*Artifacts: 0/1

*Weapons: 0/1

*Summons: 0/1

*Kills: 0 / 500

*Ancient Souls: 0/ ????

─────────────────────────

Jin was puzzled by what he saw and then asked, "What is the title?"

The writing on the paper changed, replacing itself with an answer : "The title is the name of your rank."

Despite his astonishment and fear, Jin sighed and felt a bit relieved.

"It seems this thing is harmless."

He then asked again, "What do you mean by 'fateless'?"

The writing on the paper changed to answer him: "You have not found a destiny yet."

Jin looked puzzled. "That's an stupid answer."

He then asked again, "What are the ancient souls?"

The writing on the paper changed, answering him with hidden symbols: "??????"

Jin was slightly annoyed by this answer. "Why is it hidden?"

Then Jin asked, "Who are you?"

The writing on the paper changed to answer him: "A commandment of Amon."

Jin quickly asked, "Who is Amon?"

The writing on the paper changed to answer him: "You do not have the right to know at this time."

Jin scratched his head and then said, "Are you human?"

The writing on the paper changed to answer him: "No."

Jin was astonished and then asked, "What are you then?"

The writing on the paper changed to answer him: "A commandment of Amon."

Jin sighed and then said, "What should I do?"

The writing on the paper changed to answer him: "Obtain the legacy of Amon."

Jin asked, "How do I do that?"

The writing on the paper changed to answer him: "Obtain the legacy of Amon."

Jin realized that this thing couldn't answer his question and then said, "Okay, how do I get out of here?" pointing to the tomb he was in.

The writing on the paper changed to answer him: "You must know your abilities."

Jin asked, "What are the abilities?"

The writing on the paper changed again, and it wrote:

─────────────────────────

 [ Abilities ]

Sharp Sense: You can sense the Chaos Creatures around you

─────────────────────────

Jin scratched his head, dissatisfied. "Why do these abilities make me look like a deranged murderer?"

then Jin sighed and asked, "How can I use my abilities?"

The paper answered him, "Your abilities will be summoned by saying Summon followed by mentioning the ability you want to use."

Jin placed his hand on his chin and said, "Interesting."

Then Jin asked, "What are the limits of my abilities?"

The paper replied, "It is limited for now ..."

Jin smiled then asked "so it could be limitless later ? "

The paper replied, "yes ..."

Then Jin asked, "How can I get out of here now?"

The paper replied: "Do you want to leave the tomb of Amon? [yes/no]"

Jin replied, "Yes."

Suddenly, the paper burst into flames, the place became misty, and everything vanished. Jin found himself awake in his bed.

Rubbing his eyes, Jin said, "What was that? Such a strange dream."

He looked at the ceiling, pondering the dream, then spoke with an excited tone, "No, I don't think it was a dream."

Jin smiled and stood at the edge of his bed. "I think I should test the reality of it..."
