The echo of my breaths in the abyss grew fainter as I took one last weak breath, and then flames ignited around me...
The mutation tried to conserve its energy as much as possible to prolong my life—a predictable decision, as it was not supported by any rational mind.
My decision, however, was to blow everything up with whatever energy I had left.
I don't know when it happened, but I felt my body grow in several ways, and I regained control. Strange ashes floated around me, embracing my entire body. I couldn't see anything, but I could feel it.
That final explosion must have turned all the thorns around me into ash, including the ones that had grown inside me.
'So, the solution was right in front of me all along...'
I finally understood what had caused the mutation to submit in the end…
I felt a strong power surrounding my body, though sadly, it wasn't permanent… it would have been amazing if it were.
