Chapter 18 - Power - Up

Elias pondered for a moment, muttering to himself, "Hmm, which one should I focus on first?"

He then turned to Prometheus. "Wait, hold on. I understand that Attributes are the most fundamental part of the status window. They influence my overall stats, right?"

"Exactly, Master," Prometheus confirmed. "Attributes are the core building blocks of your character's growth."

"Okay, that makes sense," Elias said.

"That's why I need to be very careful about which attributes to raise first," Elias said thoughtfully.

He turned to Prometheus and Argus, a question lingering in his voice. "How can I tell which attributes are the most important?"

"There's information available for each attribute," Prometheus began to explain. "You just need to access it, and then you'll see detailed explanations..."

Without waiting for the full explanation, Elias went ahead and started checking the information for each attribute in his status window.

"Maybe I should strengthen my foundation first," Elias muttered as he scanned the list of attributes. Strength, Dexterity, Endurance, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma, and Luck stared back at him, each currently at 27/30.

He tapped on "Strength." A detailed box popped up, explaining:

____________________________

Strength

This attribute affects your physical power in several ways.

It increases the damage you deal with melee weapons like swords and axes.

It also helps you carry more things and resist physical attacks better.

The other attributes all had similar explanations, detailing their functions and impact on Elias's character.

"Hmm," Elias murmured, stroking his chin thoughtfully. "Since I mostly fight with a sword and axe, maybe boosting Strength and Dexterity would be best for now."

Elias carefully assigned three points each to Strength and Dexterity.

A wave of renewed energy washed over him. Elias felt stronger and more agile, a satisfied grin spreading across his face.

"Hmm, can't wait to test out this new power," he muttered.

"Don't worry, Master," Prometheus reassured him. "Once you've distributed all your Attribute Points, we'll put your skills to the test in a real practice session."

Elias grinned and refocused on the status window, his eyes sparkling with anticipation. He saw that he still had 4 Attribute Points remaining.

Drawing on his experience as a hunter and mercenary back on Earth, Elias recognized another crucial attribute.

"Looks like I need to boost my Endurance too," he mumbled, increasing his Endurance to the maximum. Finally, he used the last point on Intelligence.

As he did, the numbers in his status window updated to reflect the changes.

Elias flexed his muscles, jumped a few times, and mimicked punching and kicking motions. He felt noticeably more powerful and agile. "I used all my Attribute Points," he confirmed, looking at Prometheus.

"Perfect," Prometheus replied. "Now, let's distribute your Skill Points (SP)."

Elias returned to the status window and saw a list of his skills, all currently at the "intermediate" level.

He focused on the weapon skills section, where he found the four types of weapons he often used back on Frostspire Isle: swords, axes, bows, and daggers.

He decided to invest all his SP points in his sword skills. The experience bar next to "Sword Proficiency" showed a slight increase in his skill level.

"Phew, looks like I've spent all my Attribute and Skill Points," Elias muttered.

"Are you finished allocating points, Master?" Prometheus inquired.

Elias simply nodded in response.

"Master, I understand your desire to max out everything, but your AP and SP are limited," Prometheus explained kindly.

"Don't worry though, there are other ways to improve your attributes and skills."

Elias's eyes lit up with interest. "Oh really? How?"

"There are two options," Prometheus said.

"The first, and fastest, is buying points with XP. It costs 1,000 XP for 1 AP and 10,000 XP for 1 SP. However, the higher your stats and skills get, the more expensive these exchanges become."

"The second method is more effective, but it takes time and effort. You can train continuously to improve your attributes and skills naturally."

"Personally, I recommend the second method for you, Master," Prometheus added.

"Sure, sounds good," Elias replied, a hint of excitement in his voice.

*****

Weeks bled into months. The harsh beauty of the cliffside platform became Elias' training ground. Each sunrise brought the rasp of steel against wood, the grunts of his exertion, and the ever-present guidance of Prometheus.

Gone were the days of simply boosting his abilities with points.

Prometheus' training was brutal but rewarding, a baptism by fire. It pushed Elias to his physical and mental limits, forcing him to unlock the full potential of his enhanced strength, agility, and stamina.

His training began daily with brute force exercises.

He hauled massive rocks up the cliff face, chopped enormous logs with a single swing, and performed hundreds of weighted push-ups. These were the tools that sculpted his physique. His once lean frame filled out with strong muscle, and his movements gained a powerful grace.

Footwork drills became a blur of motion. Elias danced across intricate patterns etched into the rock, dodging imaginary attacks and weaving through a forest of practice dummies. His reflexes became lightning-fast, his strikes precise and deadly.

Long runs along the windswept cliffs tested his stamina to the limit. He sprinted across the icy plains, battling fatigue and the biting wind. His lungs burned, his legs screamed, but he pushed on, fueled by an unwavering will.

The training wasn't just physical. Prometheus led Elias through meditation sessions, focusing his mind to channel his increased intelligence and wisdom.

He learned to tap into a wellspring of willpower, enhancing his focus and determination.

As Elias progressed, Prometheus introduced "Trials."

These were staged battles against holographic projections of increasingly strong monsters.

Each fight was a calculated test, pushing Elias to utilize his honed skills and strategic thinking. The taste of simulated defeat fueled his desire to improve.

It was a relentless slog, a daily dance with exhaustion and self-doubt.

There were days when Elias wanted to give up, the pain threatening to overwhelm him. But the image of his daughter, her bright smile a beacon of hope, kept him going.

There were plateaus, frustrating periods where progress seemed stagnant. But Prometheus, ever patient, guided him through them

He introduced new training methods, encouraged mental visualization, and pushed Elias to discover hidden reserves of strength.

Slowly, steadily, Elias changed. The weathered hunter became a formidable warrior. His movements were a blur of controlled violence, his strikes infused with raw power and precision.

His reflexes could deflect arrows shot at point-blank range, his endurance allowed him to run for hours without tiring.

His mind, once focused on survival, now strategized complex maneuvers and analyzed his opponents with a sharp tactical mind.

One year after his arrival, Elias stood at the cliff's edge, the wind whipping at his cloak. His gaze swept across the vast expanse of the ocean, a sea of blue mirroring the glint in his eyes.

He was no longer the man who had stumbled into this strange world.

He was Elias Frostborn, a warrior sculpted by hardship, every attribute pushed to its peak.

This was the culmination of blood, sweat, and unwavering determination.

"Is this enough?" Elias asked, his voice steady despite his churning emotions.

Prometheus materialized beside him. "Enough for what, Master?"

"To get back home," Elias replied, a flicker of doubt momentarily clouding his eyes.

A warm light emanated from Prometheus. "You have grown far beyond what anyone could have imagined. Your strength, your skills, your very being – they are honed to a razor's edge. Whether you return home or forge a new path in this world, you are ready."

Elias, the former hunter, now a warrior forged in the fires of hardship, smiled.

He wasn't sure what the future held, but he knew one thing for certain – he would face it head-on, his body a testament to unwavering dedication, his spirit a beacon of hope.

Elias murmured, "Let's see..." as he tried to open his status window.

A wide grin spread across his face as his status window flickered to life. It had been nearly a year of relentless training, day and night.

Each day focused on building his physical strength, while nights were spent sharpening his mental focus.

The transformation was undeniable.

Throughout this time, his level steadily increased. With each level up, he continued his training, determined to maximize the abilities reflected in his attribute values.

Suddenly, Elias remembered Prometheus' words: "From now on, save your AP points. Once you're past level 10, this kind of training won't be as effective for boosting your abilities."
