Chapter 9 - Reactions of a Reincarnated One (4)

I got up from the toilet and was immediately reminded of another difference: now I had to wipe myself after peeing. None of the tricks I'd learned before could help me now.

I sighed in defeat, grabbing the toilet paper... 'Toilet paper?' Another modern convenience in a supposedly medieval fantasy world...

I just shrugged it off, secretly grateful that this wasn't another change I'd have to live with. If I remembered correctly, medieval hygiene was awful, and well… not something you'd want to deal with.

"I'm feeling light!" A feminine voice came from my vocal cords again, but this time I ignored it.

I just needed to grab some clothes and a towel to take a shower. The fact that my sweat had been dripping down my body for half an hour was something I couldn't ignore. No way I'd show up at school tomorrow smelling like this.

So, I left the bathroom and headed straight for the wardrobe. Inside, I searched for anything that wasn't too feminine.

I got two results, one good and one bad. The good news was that I found a plain, white, unmarked t-shirt that could pass as unisex. The bad news? Only skirts and pants were available! And it's hot today!

So, I'd have to choose to consciously wear a skirt...

"System! Add note: Buy casual clothes."

Well, since I literally have a virtual assistant at my disposal, why not use it, right?

This world's "System" is basically a combination of the internet and artificial intelligence. So, I'll just treat it like Alexa or Siri, two virtual assistants from Earth.

"Noted. Would the lady like to add anything else?"

No, thanks. Something as easily hackable as you is not reliable to have any sensitive information.

After all, anyone with access to the room with the original magical tool the System is, every other System connected to it could reverse-engineer from the original magical tool and pull any information they wanted, from any copy of the System through its connection.

Is there a reason this humanity doesn't realize how insecure their internet is? Especially in a world where some races can shape-shift into others.

I have to remind myself to take notes on the races humanity is allied with and those they consider enemies later on.

"That's for later. Time for a shower!" I... eagerly wanted to take a shower...?

Hmmm, never mind. I shook my head and made my way back to the bathroom, holding that white t-shirt and a skirt...

I tossed the clothes onto the toilet and checked the small drawers next to the full-body mirror.

"Let's see... nail polish, deodorant, another type of deodorant, combs, no idea what this is, cotton balls, a long toothpick, something that's probably for skin, a makeup kit, another one, and another... more?" I listened as I pulled the items out of the drawer.

I had some of Auka's memories, but they were all in 2D in a visual novel style. I'd only had these memories for a short time, and I had no idea how to actively recall them.

"Another makeup kit? Why do you have nine, Auka?" I put the kit on the floor and kept searching the other drawers. "Skin lotion, soap—correction: soaps. Shampoo, conditioner, shampoo—wait, that's something else. Skin treatment, a pack of... razors?"

My God, that's a lot of stuff. Is she really 18? When I moved out of my parents' house, I only brought my setup, a few gadgets, and some clothes and food my relatives gave me.

What's the use of all this? I'll sell it, it's not like I'll die without it. I'm proof of that. Besides, I don't care about appearances since...

I glanced at the mirror and thought, 'She's already beautiful.'

I grabbed the lotion in my hand and made my way to the bathroom trash can. I was about to toss it in when my hand hesitated.

'Come on, just throw it away.' I thought, but without feeling the hesitation.

The hesitation persisted, refusing to let me release it.

"T-There must be a use for this lotion, r-right? It must've been e-expensive, and selling it wouldn't return the original price I paid for it." The feminine voice that came out of me was shaky and hesitant.

Well, when you put it that way, it makes sense. I wouldn't get the same amount back that Auka spent on it, so this would be a waste of money.

And who knows, maybe I'll need it later. It was definitely a good decision from my automatic brain.

'Thanks, auto-mode!'

"Huuu..." A soft, relieved sigh escaped my lips.

I went back to the drawers near the mirror and headed straight to the last unexplored section. It had two handles facing each other like a door.

I opened the drawer, and inside, I found something shocking—towels!

Who in their right mind stores towels in a drawer or cabinet near the floor?!

Even though I didn't know if the System was in this room, I politely asked, "System, another note: Rearrange this dorm, because I can't take it anymore!"

I heard just a beep, probably from the bedroom or the hallway outside the bathroom. And if it was from there, this soundproofing sucks...

I sighed and started looking for the shower.

My intuition said that the lowered section of the bathroom was a logical place for the shower, so I stepped in and checked the corners. I even pressed on the tiles, hoping something magical would happen.

Nothing happened until I looked up and noticed the ceiling was weirdly clean and flat. I glanced away, thinking, 'Well, in medieval times they used buckets and bathtubs, right? I've gotten too comfortable with these modern conveniences showing up.'

But before leaving the section, I sighed and muttered out loud, "It'd be nice if there was something like; Turn on the shower! Or even just—"

—shhhhhhh

A sound came from above.

I glanced up, trying to pinpoint where the sound was coming from. That's when I realized—it sounded like running water. Before I could react, I felt the cold splash on my head. I froze. I blinked. And water went inside my eyes.

"Aaaah!" I grumbled in pain. The clean, clear water poured down on me from above, soaking me instantly.

"Ah! Turn off! Stop!" I shouted, waving my arms, as though that would stop the water.

Nothing changed. The spray kept coming, drenching me more and more by the second.

"System! Turn off the water!" Still nothing. The stream of water continued to pour down, a perfect imitation of rain. Only, this rain was mocking me.

"What kind of shower needs voice commands anyway?" I grumbled, half expecting the System to help me after hearing me complying.

I scrambled to get out of the way, slipping slightly on the wet floor as I tried to move out of the shower's path. My soaked clothes clung to me uncomfortably, making it harder to move.

'Great, just great. First, I get stuck in a girl's body, now I'm getting drowned by a shower. Could this day get any better?'

I wrestled with my clothes, trying to pull the soaked fabric off my body, but everything was sticking to me like glue. The more I fought, the more tangled up I seemed to get.

Finally, I gave up and stood there, letting the water do its worst. 'At least the temperature's nice,' I thought as I peeled off the drenched fabric one piece at a time.

The water was surprisingly warm, a perfect balance between hot and cold. I had to admit, it felt pretty nice compared to the medieval bathwater I was expecting. But that didn't stop the frustration bubbling up inside me. How was I supposed to dry off without modern conveniences like a dryer or—wait, do dryers even exist here?

The sensation of water running over my skin was strangely soothing, and for a moment, I almost forgot my situation. But reality crashed back as my drenched clothes made squelching noises with every move I made.

The water pooled at my feet, reflecting the absurdity of the situation. Here I was, a former speedrunner, trying to survive an otome game prologue… and I couldn't even figure out how to turn off a shower.

But I couldn't just stay here, I don't know if I pay for wasted water or not yet. "Maybe there's a manual switch somewhere," I muttered, running my hands along the smooth tiles, hoping for a hidden lever or button.

Nothing.

Inspecting the tiles was kind of useless since I had already checked before accidentally turning the shower on. 'But a switch could also appear since those damned holes did as well.'

Then an idea came, "Do I just... say it again?" I asked, feeling increasingly stupid talking to thin air. I never did that before…

"Turn off the shower!"

After a moment, I noticed a faint sound.

—beep beep, coming from the hallway as before, I suppose.

'Of course!' I realized why the System reacted to my command just now, I said "shower" this time. You can't turn off water, I see now why it hadn't helped me before.

I stepped out of the water, clothes still clinging to me. I kicked off my shoes and tossed my wet clothes into the corner next to the door. Don't judge—it's efficient if you're not lazy.

Standing there, soaked and defeated, I realized that the modern conveniences of this world weren't going to make my life any easier. Quite the opposite.

"I really miss my old world," I grumbled, a feminine voice left my mouth as I was shaking my head. 'At least there, the showers didn't have an attitude—or need voice commands to turn off.'

Now standing there, completely naked, I glanced down at my new body. It was the first time I'd seen this body naked, but I didn't feel much of anything—which was kind of weird, considering I was a male virgin.

This actually feels like I am borrowing someone else's skin. Sure, I can control and move like before, but you understand what I mean.

I'd seen plenty of female characters in games, sure, but it was completely different when it was me in the mirror. I ran a hand over my chest, expecting… well, more, I guess.

"Flat is justice," I muttered, the phrase slipping out almost automatically—A meme from the internet that I said here and there during streams.

The body wasn't exactly what I'd imagined when I thought 'girl,' but Auka was... well, she was cute in her own way. Petite. Yeah, that was it.

My lips tugged downward involuntarily. 'Why am I disappointed? I'm a guy—having big boobs would just be weird,' I thought, shaking my head to clear the thought.

I shook my head intensely hard, 'getting off-topic again,' I then turned to the "shower space" as I would now call it, "So, I just need to say 'turn on'?"

And like before, it took just a second for the sound to return. It's a little scary how sensitive the System is, picking up on commands that weren't even meant to be commands.

I knew I couldn't stay like this, now that school is over, it is finally time to use one of my strengths that led me to speedruns. My brainstorm and note capabilities, or as my chat liked to call it: Quake's Cheat Codex.

—shhhhhhh

The shower went on without any major incidents after those little troubles, except for one thing—cleaning the lower part of this body...

When I got to that part, I decided not to wash the inside.

I'll probably have to watch a video tutorial in the System on how to bathe for a female audience, done by a woman. It's going to be weird, but what can I do?

I stepped out of the bathroom and walked over to the desk in this girl's room, which, by the way, was dusty… Seriously, do people not use desks?

They're so useful!

Before I sat down, I took another glance at the room. It was a medium small place, a huge soft bed with minimalistic design, a black-painted wardrobe, the balcony—Which now that I'm seeing more clearly it's kind of a big balcony—and that vanity for make-up I transmigrated in.

Well, the vanity doesn't seem approachable now since I marked it with surrounding objects—stuffed animals and knick-knacks all around it to 'preserve' the area. I didn't have chalk to do a proper outline, okay? Now that spot totally feels like a crime scene.

The reason I marked that place with plushies and objects is that I don't want to forget it was there that I transmigrated here. I have the mentality of; If it bringed me, it will travel me back. Any hints are needed in my situation!

Now, though the bed is big—I'd estimate 190cm long and 135cm wide—it still has a walkable space at the end of the bed. The space here is considered small, but I can still walk in normally.

Thankfully, Auka wasn't those people that don't leave their rooms and keep placing piles of trash in it. So it has enough space to walk and… you know… Roll!

I closed my eyes, expecting something to happen.

"..."

I blinked several times believing it would happen again, it seems like that screen's abilities only work when it's showing… But how do I actively use it! That's a lame game design if you ask me!

"Huu…" I sighed and continued.

These pink walls have a soft plastic like view, it feels like when a game developer forgets to add texture to the "brick.obj" and placed bright pink in it. Really weird… It has to be a wallpaper right?

What's weirder than that is this magic field thingy it has.

—Thud I punched the wall, but what I actually hit was a less-than-an-inch-invisible-barrier that shortly after I punched, the wall lit the area blue and spread it in a small blue diamond shape in a pulse animation style.

—Thud I did the same with the floor, stomping my foot hard on it. But it had no effect, "Ouch, and this one hurts… anyway," I sighed and turned my head.

If this were a game, a simple pop up notification reading "Immortal Object" would do the job. Why would a school waste money on literal barriers for dorm walls? And yet, nothing for the floor? Really?

The corridor is actually the entrance to the dorm. And it is kind of small, I could practically lay down and my body would fit just right after stretching. Plus, considering Auka is sma-

"cough, cough, cough" I felt an uncontrollable desire to cough right now, where did that come from? Auka better not be sick, I have no money! I should go to the school doctor later…

Continuing this after-calm observation, in the corridor there are three doors. The middle one is the one to go out of the dorm, the right one—from the entrance view—is the bathroom, while the left one being a little ahead than the bathroom door, is the kitchen.

I haven't really entered the room, but I can guess it since technically me and Razelitta have the same dorm layout, and in the game you could bake sweets to the targets in your dorm. So it's easy to connect the dots.

But anyway, let's put all that aside and get started on the Cheat Codex.

I grabbed Auka's little notebook, which was full of boy names, and tore out a few pages. I left some behind since some of the information might actually be useful.

"Well, first of all, I'm in Sexist Kingdom Love School. Or in its acronym form, SKLS."

Obviously, the beginning of any brainstorming session should be the situation and the goal. In my case, I've been transmigrated into Auka Geevolaince in SKLS. My goal is... well, for now, let's just say it's to get back home.

On the first page of the notebook, I wrote, "Quake's Cheat Codex; Damn otome game transmigration." A nice title, right?

Since it's just a quick, provisional version to prevent a future fantasy scenario within this current fantasy scenario like my game memories getting deleted; I didn't bother decorating it.

I skipped about 3-4 pages to leave space for important notes, and at the top of this page, I wrote "Events."

I started the paragraph with a brief introduction on how many chapters the game had and how long each chapter lasted in the game's timeline.

"I always forget how annoying it is to write without a keyboard..." I sighed as I scribbled.

'Wait, did I say that out loud?' That's not good. This streamer habit needs to stop.

Ignoring that for now, I kept writing.

After finishing the general page for events, it was time to dive deeper into the prologue.

I flipped the page and titled it just like in the game.

*The prologue begins by introducing all the princes, placing Razelitta in semi-cliché situations like bumping into them (Orin), grabbing the same book (Cedric), or doing something forbidden and getting caught (Elias).

So, all the primary targets and princes were introduced, except for the secondary characters like Harold—best boy—and that one girl…*

I stopped writing and placed my hand on my chin to think. I couldn't let a single detail slip by. One of the defining traits of my Cheat Codexes was that I never missed a bit of information.

I then remembered the girl's name and snapped my fingers. I erased the last words and continued writing.

*...and Larah, but that's to be expected in an otome game. In the prologue, there wasn't much narrative or freedom for the action character. The forced tutorial with Maxwell covered the game's skills and combat system, but other than that, the action character was mostly left out.

So, the pre-incident prologue was essentially an introduction to all the game's targets and resources. In this pre-conflict section, I'll focus on Razelitta's actions.*

I drew a line at the end of this paragraph and wrote a subtitle two lines below, "Pre-conflict".

*She begins her journey heading to the capital and gets into a bit of trouble with an old lady and some street vendors. Luthar steps in to stop the verbal conflict. He forces Razelitta to join him in the royal carriage to both enhance his image and question Razelitta. However, she doesn't realize she's being questioned—and even if she did, the outcome wouldn't change.

The prince from the Valtaris House—bloodline whatever the nobles call it—drops her off at Burialle's gates since she doesn't have a student pass, bidding her farewell with a smile. Razelitta gets out of the vehicle and tries to focus back on finding a noble.

Despite being the protagonist, she still doesn't realize that one of the princes who's nearly winning the election was right in front of her. Anyway, the academy director, who coincidentally was nearby, noticed that she might be a friend of the prince and gave her a temporary pass to enter.

Razelitta refused, but the director "insisted"—let's put it that way—forcing the girl into Burialle, which was about to begin the entrance ceremony.

On her way to the ceremony, she bumps into another prince... talk about luck... Orin, the airheaded but somewhat intimidating prince of House Arcanis.*

"Wait, Orin was from Arcanis? Now that I think about it... his personality fits more with Technara or Valtaris."

Orin Arcanis, the best way to describe him is that he's like a guy who's way too energetic and obsessed with magic—Ah, now I get it. Anyway, he's really curious, very curious. He even asks unconscious questions about society and such.

Creepy…

*It was just a casual encounter. They were walking, and Orin suddenly became fascinated with Razelitta's hair color. After that, came the…*

I kept summarizing the introductory events of the prologue.

'This is so boring, man. Without music or being on calls with the server people, writing this Cheat Codex is a drag.'

I had nothing else to do but write the Cheat Codex, scene by scene. I am currently writing the second day of school—Also known as today.

*So after the delay Aldric Valtaris caused with his constant questions about how Razelitta met his younger brother, she bumps into an Arcanis—it was about time... so many Valtaris and staff encounters and no Arcanis...

On her way to find her classroom, 1401, she bumps into Sylia right at the hallway's turn. The calm and cold queen that stole my heart at first, Sylia from Arcanis House.

Razelitta dropped a few books when they bumped into each other, she firstly stayed silent waiting for the other party reply, but seeing how she was silent, Razelitta simply glanced at the nameplate in the uniform and—*

'Wait…'

I dropped the pen, my eyes widened as the realization hit me.

"I stole Sylia's scene? If that's true... then that means..."

Without hesitation, I shoved the Cheat Codex into a drawer. I was about to enter another scene!

Auka Geevolaince? More like Sylia, the one who left House Arcanis and has a transmigrated person in her body!

—Bam!

The drawer made a loud noise as I forced it shut. I was in total panic. Should I answer the door? Ignore it? Why now, of all times!?

"System, what ti—"

But before I could finish, a sound interrupted me.

—Ding dong! ... Ding dong!

Are you serious? I was interrupted right before I could get my only weapon up and running again? What kind of author does this to their character and story? Are you in a rush to finish the chapter? Aren't you shameless? What are your readers going to think!

—Ding- Ding- Ding- Ding- Ding-

"Alright, I'm coming! Stop spamming!" I shouted to the unlucky soul pressing the doorbell non-stop.

Oops, I responded. No turning back now. Hopefully, I'll have time later to finish the Cheat Codex.

I openned the door leading to the hallway and the figure that was spamming the door bell was without a doubt, the main character. Wow, if this was a novel, I sure skipped like twenty or fifty chapters.

Lifting my head slightly, I was greeted by the sight of a girl hesitating to press the doorbell again. Monochromatic eyes, split-colored hair—blue and yellow, the signature look of our protagonist, Razelitta.

—Ding-

I sighed, staring at her finger still hovering over the button. This is it. Any control I had over the plot is gone now, and as long as this scene keeps going, I'm bound to end up as at least an acquaintance of the main character.
