"Now, to kill a death knight, you will have to do it the traditional way by simply tearing away at the creature's body. Once the body of the death knight has been destroyed, the weapon will break, and the soul will move on into the afterlife, at which point it is up to either the gods or the fiendish lords to decide what happens from there. If the gods wish for the fallen paladin to be punished further, he or she shall be sent back to the mortal realm to continue its undead life.
On the other hand, any of the demon lords or devil princesses may wish to seduce the soul of the great warrior for whatever evil purposes they might have, which could entail a second undead life in the mortal realm.
This is why death knights are considered so particularly difficult to destroy—they always keep coming back. Now, as I said before, death knights vary broadly in personality, mannerisms, and power because their abilities depend largely on the gods they used to follow or the evil forces that helped them...
But the third method rarely ever works. It's not only very difficult and sometimes involves gods; it's rarely used. However, it creates the strongest types of death knights.
This method involves deliberately leading to the fall of the paladin and a final, successful transformation.
Because the power of faith within a paladin's body is very strong, that kind of holy power cannot be broken through by ordinary devils.
And since the strength of the death knight is determined by the strength they had in life, some death knights are very powerful. They retain the ability to cast holy spells they had in life, though their magic can no longer heal. Having transformed into an undead creature, their holy power takes on aggressive characteristics, making them even more dangerous than they were as paladins.
Moreover, while most death knights ride relatively powerful skeletal horses, the most powerful death knights do not ride skeletal horses.
They ride a Nightmare!
The Nightmare is also known as the Magic Steed or Hell's Steed—something similar to a unicorn or bicorn.
These creatures also have intelligence, and nightmares are not natural; they are created. They are transformed from celestial creatures like Pegasi. The ritual to create a Nightmare involves excruciating pain for the Pegasus, including brutally removing its wings. Then, powerful dark magic, either in hell or the abyss, transforms these noble celestial beings into evil nightmare creatures. It's a similar process to the death knight's creation.
According to Elise, the death knight's mount should be a Nightmare, and the strength of that death knight must be very high—perhaps even beyond the 15th level—otherwise, the Nightmare would not submit to him.
After considering it twice, I decided to investigate the death knight's situation. This even surpassed my interest in Charles City.
After all, I should be able to consume Death Knights too, right? As I did consume something possibly related to an evil god.
Still, such a powerful death knight... it's exciting just thinking about it!
But before that, let's have a feast!
After all, a feast is not to be missed!
Thinking back to when I was in the dragon's lair, I snatched the eggshells of two dragon sisters to make up a feast. Now it's necessary to plunder something else.
Ordinary war beast meat is no longer enough. Coming and going just for the feast—such is the hard life!
...
At the same time, in a muddy pond just outside the Dragon Nest, Emilia, who was holding and biting a dead fish, yawned. She looked at the bored Hannah beside her and asked:
"Hannah, when do you think we'll be able to live in the dragon pond again? I already miss swimming in the coins! When will we be able to eat there again?"
Hannah's remark made Emilia wince, feeling the weight of the Dragon King's relentless pursuit of the devils. As soon as word reached Castle Black, the dragon maids wasted no time in placing the entire dragon pound under strict lockdown. They knew dragons have an uncanny instinct for every coin in their hoard—if even one went missing, they'd sense it immediately. With two mischievous, treasure-hungry little dragonesses nearby, the potential for chaos was high. Allowing them near the treasure could spark disaster, and if their lord discovered any missing portion of his hoard, they would bear the brunt of his wrath. To them, sealing the pound entirely seemed wiser than constant surveillance.
Only three individuals were granted entry: Sophia, Skye, and Danyla. Together, they conducted daily inventory checks of newly added treasures, overseeing each deposit with unwavering vigilance.
"What's wrong with the fish? It's also meat!"
"At least it's better than eating dirt," Hannah said, smearing black mud all over herself. This covered their body odor and made her feel comfortable. She rolled around, looking at two shiny little stones in her claws, feeling extremely satisfied. Though it was only a magic crystal with a trace of magic power, it was the first treasure of the future great black dragon queen!
"But Brother Barbatos shares his meals; he even took us to eat war beast meat from an eleventh-order beast at that time!" Hannah chewed on the fish, finding it more and more tasteless. She was starting to miss the scent of aboleth and ground-splitter...
"Don't want it? Don't eat it, then—it's mine!"
Emily lunged at Hannah angrily, trying to snatch half of the dead fish. Hannah quickly swallowed the rest, bones and all, into her stomach. Emily, undeterred, kept pawing at Hannah's mouth, trying to get some scraps.
For a long time, the two little black dragons lay in the quagmire, covered in mud. If one didn't look closely, they might seem like two piles of sludge.
"Wherever Brother Barbatos is, he must be having a good time!" Hannah suddenly said.
This time, Emily didn't argue but replied thoughtfully, "Last I heard, he was chasing devils. You must know that capturing or defeating them isn't easy."
"But Brother is very powerful!" Hannah sighed.
"Hannah, don't fool yourself. You can't predict his end, and we are true dragons—we have no life or death!" Emily reassured her, rarely showing compassion.
She still resented Barbatos for taking her eggshells. 'He must be alive and not used as a mount!' Hannah thought, determinedly.
...
In the palace in Menzoberranzan, I ordered everyone to leave. I looked at the corpse of the observer beholder, the half-eaten basilisk, and the ashen-faced spider-drow, as well as the trembling quasit and piles of pure gold, coins, and magic crystals.
Then let's begin the feast.
The familiar feeling of hunger struck. I suppressed it and took in the aroma of the feast before me. Scent often provides my best judgment of an item's quality. Surprisingly, the most fragrant ones were the corpses of the quasit and the watcher beholder.
Then came the fine gold and coins.
The spider-drow was last in terms of scent. According to my feast judgment, this spider-drow wasn't worth as much as a gold coin. Worthless?
Never mind, let's eat first.
I picked up the quasit and swallowed it, ending its life painlessly. Next came the beholder's corpse, its eye bursting as I bit down, an oddly satisfying sensation. Then the half-eaten petrified lizard corpse, followed by fine gold, gold coins, silver, and magic crystals.
The spider-drow watched in dumbfounded silence. Though she'd made peace with her fate, the scene was incomprehensible to her. A black dragon devouring strange food, even gold coins and silver!
She didn't notice her impending end, just curiously watched me. I glanced at her curious face and shook my head.
"Let's end it quickly," I thought. With that, I crushed her resilient body, watching her human-like upper half calmly await her end. She showed no fear, and in the throes of my feast, the spider-drow's tragic life was over.
What the dragon failed to notice was her unnaturally calm demeanor.
After the feast, I checked my progress, which was complete, and entered a transformation period. Outside, Winnie and Shea guarded silently.
They knew their lord was unlike other true dragons. He slept only briefly, but each time, he grew significantly stronger.
Elise tried several times to extract information from Shea, but Shea ignored her.
Elise eventually gave up, focused on handling the family member, that damned Maya!
...
I awoke a day later. This feast had progressed smoothly. Looking at myself, my body length had reached 40.3 meters—small mountain-sized.
Though similar in length to the Black Dragon Lady, I had a different, more violent beauty.

It really is this skill.
The little demon from the bottom of that abyss.
This talent is already very good for me.
After experiencing the era of technology in my previous life, I understand the importance of information transmission better than other people.
And it is also very important for a force, which is equivalent to hanging an extremely powerful camera on the subordinates. Something similar to the connection I had with my core dependents.
In this way, one will never be afraid of getting lost again!
And it can also prevent my core dependents and incompetent subordinates from making small moves, which is far more reliable than a blood connection.
I ignored the fact that removing it would cause damage to the opponent's spirit.
Anyway, it wasn't my own spirit that was hurt.
Seeing the emptiness around me, I sighed.
The appetite for this feast was growing.
More and more supplies are needed each time.
I didn't want to think that one day I really wouldn't have enough ingredients so that I could only eat dirt to improve the progress of the feast.
I don't know how much soil I would have to eat to improve the progress of the feast.
I got up and walked out.
"Lord!"
Shea and Winnie, who were bored at the door, rushed over when they saw me coming out.
Seeing the two of them, I had an idea.
"I got a new dragon skill this time, and I need the cooperation of the two of you!" I said.
"Master!" Shea was the first to look at me with her head raised, like a soldier about to die.
I stretched out a paw and lightly tapped on the top of Shea's head, activating the soul chain.
Shea felt a chill spread from the top of her skull to her whole body in an instant. And I felt as if a white spot of light appeared in my mind.
I focused on it.
In an instant, I had another perspective, just like watching TV in my previous life. Similar to my perspective share with my core dependents.
A huge black monster stood in front of me; it was me.
So this is Shea's perspective!
From Shea's point of view, I'm so oppressive, and I'm so handsome!
As expected of me!
"Master?"
Seeing that I had been bewildered, Shea whispered.
"Ah, very good!"
I nodded. This skill is really good.
For a moment, Shea was a little confused.
'What's good?'
"Winnie, come here too!" I looked at Winnie beside her.
Winnie was also a little puzzled, but she didn't hesitate and immediately stood beside me.
I did the same and bound Winnie to the chain of soul.
I just don't know what the limit distance of the soul chain is, as I can't connect with my core dependents in the dragon's nest unless I open an any door.
As for the effect of the soul chain, I'm not going to let others know for the time being.
This thing can play an unexpected role at critical times.
It's a pity that it's still too late, otherwise it would be great to bind the silly boy, Pear.
In this way, we can know the specific whereabouts outside and of the others.
But at present, going back can't improve much, and the Voltan family always feels like those guys are not so simple.
The last time I faced that half-devil patriarch, I actually felt a bad premonition.
Even facing the horned demon Idris, I didn't feel this way.
If I felt it was true, then it meant that the devil patriarch was playing around with all the devils.
But it doesn't matter; no matter how outrageous they are, after the feast, they are still a dish.
"Go find Elise and Maya!"
I looked at Winnie next to me and said.
"Follow my Lord!"
Although Winnie was a little confused about what I did to them, out of trust, she didn't ask.
After a while, the mistress Elise, and Maya came over together.
I glanced at the two drow, my curiosity piqued by their unusual demeanor. Today, something was off. Their outfits were far more daring than usual—tight black dresses that left little to the imagination, revealing more than they concealed. It reminded me of certain provocative streamers from my previous life…
