Below, the city was drenched in gore. The streets flowed with rivers of dried, boiling blood, dismembered limbs, and mangled corpses. The smell of burnt flesh and molten armor filled the air, thick and suffocating. The bodies of drow warriors lay scattered—some still twitching in their final moments, others reduced to nothing but red mist and bone fragments.
I felt the familiar pull of mana as I prepared another spell. Although my mana was draining, the sheer destruction was intoxicating. "It's like playing a game in infinite firepower mode…" I thought, grinning as I sent another volley of explosive blasts toward the terrified drow.
I didn't target the buildings—they were mine now, after all—but the warriors, those fragile creatures running for their lives. The fireballs crashed down, obliterating everything in their path. "BOOM!" More screams, more blood. The city echoed with the dying gasps of my enemies, their broken bodies piling high as they were torn to shreds.
The drow warriors on the ground at the city wall strenuously shot their enchanted crossbows high into the sky. In a state of confusion, some drow also quickly fired their hand crossbows and spears, trying to knock down that black dragon.
But I merely flapped my wings, dodging these attacks at will. What's more, I flew at a very high altitude; even in this extraordinary world, there was still gravity, and those arrows couldn't reach me at all.

Mistress Elise stood frozen, her once-cunning eyes wide with disbelief as she watched her soldiers fall to ruin. Her mouth twisted into a snarl as she stared up at me, a mix of fury and helplessness burning in her gaze.
Elise watched as the city she had worked so hard to conquer was ravaged. With an ugly expression, she looked up at the black dragon who was having fun in mid-air.
"Is this a black dragon? Are you sure it's not a red dragon wearing a black dragon skin? And this guy is different from the red dragons I know. As far as I know, red dragons are muscular brutes with brains full of muscle. Even if they can use fire magic, they don't hide in the sky so wretchedly. And this guy is as despicable and shameless as a black dragon. He's simply a combination of a black dragon's brain and a red dragon's body!"
"Spider Web Technique!"
"Ava Black Tentacles!"
Just when I was playing really hard, there was a violent wave of magic beside me. I looked down and saw a female drow in a black robe leading seven or eight drow mages in an attack. Suddenly, a spider web five or six times bigger than me enveloped me. There were also some huge black tentacles, bound towards me like chains.
It was Elise who launched the attack. For her, the first thing to do now was to drag the damn black dragon out of the air; otherwise, they would forever be beaten passively.
"Haha!" I crashed directly into the spider web.
"Great, there are many deadly toxins on the spider web—even if he is a black dragon..." Before a drow mage could finish speaking, I tore open the enormous web with one claw. Those so-called toxins didn't leave a single mark on my scales. And the black tentacles were directly shattered by an explosive blast.
"Any more?" I looked at these mages in front of me.
Elise didn't speak anymore, but directly used the Levitation Technique to fly up. Several drow mages followed behind her.
{Fifth Tier: Demon Fire!}
After several drow mages cast their spells together, a massive black fireball hit me. Feeling the astonishing heat, the red light in my eyes became even more intense. I began to operate the atomic furnace in my body.
A miraculous scene appeared: the black fireball formed by the Demon Fire spell grew slower and smaller as it approached. In the end, it was caught in my claw and crushed.
"That's it?" I looked at the drow mages in front of me mockingly.
I just used some of the energy-absorbing properties of the atomic furnace to directly absorb the heat from the Demon Fire spell. After all, this spell was still limited by some corrosion effects and high temperature, but the heat was no match for my defenses.
Elise looked at me. "What kind of monster is this guy? Why did the Demon Fire spell fail for no reason? Even a red dragon who's proficient in fire magic couldn't do this." Her face turned ugly.
At that moment, I felt a strange vibration to my upper right. It was the spider elf Pulesta, quietly crawling along the cave wall towards me. Pulesta looked at the powerful black dragon with a determined expression. Her eight limbs were sharp, and coated with venom. If she could stab them into the black dragon, half the battle would be won. But she knew she would die in the process.
Pulesta slowly spun her web, trying to get closer to me. Just as she was about to attack, she realized the black dragon had turned his head and was looking at her curiously.
Oops! She was discovered! Pulesta hurriedly tightened her web and started to flee. She didn't want to live, but she also didn't want to die worthlessly.
"Stop him!" Elise shouted when she saw Pulesta was spotted. "Spider Web Technique!"
"Frozen Ray!"
"Ray of Frost!"
"Darkness!"
Immediately, spells of all kinds were cast. I ignored them and rushed toward Pulesta, who tried to hide in the complex cave, but I was too fast.
Just when she thought she had escaped, I appeared behind her. "Caught you!" In an instant, half of her eight legs lost their feeling. I looked at her curiously; creatures like her were rare. The weirder they were, the more talented they might be—and useful as special ingredients.
Kacha Kacha~
I chopped off Pulesta's eight legs and threw her to the ground. While dealing with her, Elise had already started casting a new spell. As the Mistress, she was a naturally powerful caster. But in front of this black dragon, her strength was meaningless.
"Variant Call!"
I, who had planned to interrupt her spellcasting with a scream, stopped upon seeing her movements. This familiar smell… The other party seemed to be summoning something. I recalled seeing the Glamor Demon Kneen summon on the surface before.
Finally, a black summoning figure appeared behind Elise. A mass of black flocs emerged from the summoning array, a wriggling monster with many strange faces inside.
"Shadow Demon! Is this what you rely on?" I asked, looking at the creature.
"Hehe, this is no ordinary shadow demon!" Elise said.
In my Dragon Legacy, I had seen mentions of shadow demons. Most theorized they were demons from the Abyss who had lost their bodies and couldn't return, so they clung to the material world. Some evolved unique talents, and this was how a Shadow Demon was born. Immune to most physical and magical attacks, this creature could be dangerous if not handled carefully.
I watched, thinking it might be a unique ingredient—one bound by Lawful Evil, while reveling in Chaotic Evil, two sides of the same wicked coin.
After receiving her command, the shadow demon swiftly floated toward me.
"Because there is no entity, this guy is fast.
This reminded me of a certain superhero from my previous life. That guy could also change the density of his body to travel through physical matter, although things like changing body density are nonsense.
Since there is the memory of the shadow demon in the inheritance memory, it means that this creature does have its merits. And I just knew a way to restrain my opponent.
{Second Tier: Orb of Light!}
This is the first dragon magic I've used, produced in the underground world with the support of my strong magic power. A small ball of light, like a white sun, suddenly appeared in midair. Both the drow elves and their mounts let out a scream.
Creatures that lived underground for a long time could not adapt to such bright light. I paid no attention to the drow and looked at the shadow demon next to me. The creature also let out a faint scream, but it didn't seem to have suffered much damage. After all, it was just a second-tier spell. Even if it was an opposite and harmful element, the damage it received still wouldn't do much.
In the memory of my inheritance, light magic is the nemesis of anything dark. And the shadow demon finally showed its true colors.
This creature is covered in black skin and has a humanoid form. The most conspicuous feature is that pair of huge claws that seem able to tear a heart. It has the tattered wings and white eyes of a traditional demon, along with long, pointed horns and fangs. Its lower body is in a state of nothingness, which looks very weird.
"This shadow demon was born after swallowing dozens of ordinary shadow demons, so although it is instinctively afraid of light magic, it can't actually be harmed by it!" Elise looked at me after recovering from the light spell and said.
In fact, she was also a little nervous. After all, when shadow demons face real dragons, their abilities are usually neutralized by the dragon's powerful physique. She wasn't sure whether this special shadow demon could harm the black dragon. She hoped this "stupid black dragon" could get out of trouble.
I was also a little curious. Because although the shadow demon has the title of "demon," this kind of creature is no longer truly categorized as a demon. They cannot advance like ordinary demons and can only be summoned continuously by certain beings for specific purposes.
Legend has it they can devour emotions, such as memories, doubts, and fears from the hearts of their prey. But the one before me was able to become unafraid of light magic. However, based on the descriptions in the memory of the Dragon Clan inheritance, shadow demons' attacks don't seem capable of damaging real dragons.
I took the initiative to pounce on the shadow demon, wanting to see if the quality of this thing could satisfy my hunger. The shadow demon let out a shrill scream and grabbed at me with its two large virtual claws. As its body blurred, my body passed directly through it.
I paused, recalling that I didn't seem to feel much of anything as if I'd just walked through dense air. Wrong!
I turned to look at the shadow demon's state. It didn't seem as intact. A black mist rose from its body as if it had suffered some kind of injury.
"Roar!"
I let out a wild scream at it. This time, I controlled the sound waves to target only the shadow demon. The substantial sound waves enveloped the demon, and its blurry body seemed even more distorted.
Seeing this, I stopped, thinking about how to catch this creature and make it my food. I didn't attack it again but instead looked at Elise, the drow mistress.
Elise's palms were sweating. She hadn't expected that the black dragon would actually have the means to hurt the shadow demon. As a contractor, she could always feel its state, and when the shadow demon passed through the black dragon's body, it seemed that some kind of strange heat had hurt it. The sound wave just now had caused even more damage.
Suddenly, Elise felt a chill over her body. Oops! The black dragon's target is her!
"Stop him!" Elise pointed at me angrily.
The other drow mages used levitation to float in front of me, but their binding magic, such as the spider web, was no stronger than paper to me. I broke through these binding spells with a direct charge, smashing a few drow mages into pieces.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Elise gritted her teeth and cast her highest-tier spell. A line of blood spurted from her mouth. The blood gradually swelled and deformed under the effect of magic power.
{Sixth Tier: Death Spider Bite!}
A gigantic red spider took shape in midair. With a ferocious appearance and blood-red body hair, even its size exceeded mine. Elise's body merged into the giant blood spider like a stream of water.
This spell took shape quickly, as Elise knew the black dragon had the ability to interrupt spellcasting. She used a lot of blood and all her mana to get the spell into shape quickly—a significant amount, as elves live long lives, and she was over two hundred years old. The Death Spider Bite is a custom magic Elise created by combining the death spider and spider bite.
This spell is an imitation of one of the servants of Lolth, the Demon Queen of Spiders! It can condense powerful death spiders and unleash potent spider bite attacks.
