And in a place where the energy of the wind element is so abundant, the five dragon eggs, with fine green dragon scales growing on their surfaces, gradually began to move.
There was a click and a crack.
The dragon egg in the middle suddenly cracked.
From the dragon egg, the big head of a green dragon hatchling protruded.
More cracking sounds were heard from the eggshells, and the full picture of the young dragon soon emerged.
First of all, as young dragons, without exception, they have a big head and a small body.
The scales of this newborn green dragon baby are very thin, small, and dense, and the color of the scales is dark green, close to black. When it grows up, its scales will turn emerald green or olive green, allowing it to blend more easily into the forest environment.
There are no big dragon horns on the big head of the green dragon baby. There are only two rows of thin, short, and pointed little dragon horns on the forehead above the dragon eyes. This will not change as they grow up. Although the size of the small dragon horns will continue to increase as the dragon grows, the proportions remain small. In terms of appearance alone, the green dragon is not as majestic and ferocious as the black dragon.
Of course, a hornless white dragon that doesn't even have small dragon horns is considered more majestic and ferocious. The white dragon is also the only true dragon without dragon horns among the Chromatic and Metallic dragons.
"Kevin Hvail Mosquera Cedric."
The newborn dragon made its first sound in this world.
The other four dragon eggs in the dragon's nest seemed to respond and began to struggle to break out of their shells, following the little green dragon Kevin.
"Kevin Hvail Mosquera Cedric."
"Geller Cedric."
"Saith."
"?"
"Yuliya."
Five green dragon babies were born one after another in a short period of time.
But the four baby green dragons who called out the dragon's true name looked at the only one who didn't call out a true name, and their eyes gradually turned disdainful.
As the first-born green dragon boss, Kevin stepped forward, bit the dragon beast's neck, and threw it out of the dragon's nest despite its struggles.
"A degraded beast is not worthy of being with a great true dragon," Kevin growled.
The other three little green dragons agreed, but Yuliya, the little female dragon who was born the slowest, hesitated. She looked at the dragon beast, now wounded with broken dragon scales and bleeding from its neck, with a sigh of pity.
But that was all. The little female dragon had no intention of helping it.
Having accepted the inheritance of dragons, they had been "polluted" by the habits of the green dragon clan and the vast knowledge it provided. Coupled with the evil at the root of their bloodline, their basic personalities were fixed as soon as they were born.
They knew from birth that they were powerful, evil dragons destined to dominate the sky and the earth.
Compassion and kindness toward life were swept into a corner of their souls, buried under layers of evil knowledge.
"By the way, where's Mother?"
The second-born little green dragon, Geller, asked in confusion.
His words diverted the attention of the other three small green dragons from the dragon beast.
"Maybe she's hunting outside and hasn't returned yet?" guessed Saith, the third-born little green dragon.
Click, click, click.
Geller, Saith, and Yuliya turned toward the sound—it was their brother Kevin, eating the eggshell of the dragon beast.
"What are you looking at? I'm the eldest brother, and these eggshells are mine!" Kevin noticed the looks from his siblings and bared his teeth to guard his food.
However, Kevin's threat was ineffective. Geller and Saith exchanged a glance, then rushed over and began to compete with their eldest brother for the eggshells.
Yuliya glanced at them, lowered her head, and quietly ate her own eggshells. As she ate, the thin, dark green dragon scales on her body began to harden, and her soft wings grew stronger.
When Yuliya finished, she saw her three brothers, bruised and swollen, glaring at each other with dissatisfaction, still chewing pieces of the dragon beast's eggshell. Fragments of eggshells lay scattered in the huge dragon nest made of enchanted branches, mixed with various wind and poison element magic cores, crystals, and gems.
Yuliya's gaze was drawn to these treasures, and greed sparked within her. Her instincts told her that consuming even one of these treasures would enhance her powers.
But she soon sobered up.
She knew these were her mother's treasures. If her mother returned and found them missing, she would be punished, perhaps even thrown out of the dragon's nest. If she dared to steal from the Dragon Lady's treasures and was thrown out of the nest, no one, not even a Chromatic dragon mother, would punish the Dragon Lady for it, as technically, she hadn't "killed" the dragon baby.
This is why Kevin and the others would rather fight for some broken eggshell fragments than for these treasures. Treasures are precious, but life is obviously more important.
Suddenly, Yuliya's gaze froze.
What did she see?!
In her line of sight, the dragon beast was chewing on a wind-element crystal, and from the crunching sound, it seemed to be enjoying it.
Inside the now quieter room, Kevin, Geller, and Saith also turned their eyes to the dragon beast, their expressions gradually dulling.
Oh, great mother! This dragon beast must be insane!
Mother will surely kill it!
"It looks delicious," Saith muttered, drooling thickly. "I think we could also eat some secretly. We can just blame this idiot dragon beast, right?"
"Your suggestion is really stupid," Yuliya mocked lightly.
Saith glared at her, "Yuliya, you're the youngest. You should respect your elder brother, or I won't hesitate to teach you a lesson!"
"Haha, idiot."
Enraged, Saith lunged forward, but after his fight with Kevin, he was too weak. Yuliya slapped him aside with two swift blows, making Saith dizzy.
"Don't offend me, idiot," Yuliya said coldly, walking to the corner of the dragon's lair and lying down quietly.
"Are we ignoring this guy?" Kevin frowned.
"This guy" referred to the dragon beast.
But Yuliya had already closed her eyes to sleep, and Saith was too dazed to respond.
Only Geller, the second brother, replied to Kevin, "It's going to die anyway; let it enjoy a meal before it does."
Kevin huffed, "It's such a waste that a precious magic treasure is eaten by a wild beast."
If you don't like it, do something about it. Kevin had made his decision.
He approached the dragon beast, clawed at its body, and beat it until it bled. Finally, he threw it out of the dragon nest.
The dragon beast, a degraded creature with no dragon inheritance, couldn't resist and was helplessly beaten until it whimpered.
"Get lost," Kevin growled.
The dragon beast looked at him with fear, licked its wounds, and retreated to the corner of the room, away from the dragon's nest. Amusingly, it continued chewing the magic crystal as it walked away.
Kevin's anger flared, but he merely snorted, lay down in the nest's center, where the wind element was strongest, and fell asleep.
'Killing the dragon beast would only leave our furious mother with no one to vent her anger on; I might even get blamed for it,' Kevin thought, stifling his murderous intent.
As time passed, the five little dragons gradually drifted into deep sleep.
They had little energy just after birth.
They didn't know how long had passed before they heard a slight sound—the door opening.
The four little dragons instantly opened their eyes and turned toward the open door, while the dragon beast continued sleeping.
The hatching room was vast, with a giant door tens of meters wide and over a hundred meters high.
To their surprise, a tall human female, about 2.6 meters, entered the room. She wore a specially designed black and white maid outfit that showed off her figure, and jet-black dragon scales were visible on her arms and thighs.
The four little dragons stared, perplexed and tense.
Familiar yet unfamiliar—familiar from the Dragon Heritage, but new to their own eyes.
"Black Dragon Dependent." The four little dragons huddled together, baring their teeth with a mix of fear and suspicion.
What were they afraid of?
They feared they were abandoned or stolen dragon eggs. If she were merely a human with black dragon blood, they could only anticipate tragic fates like enslavement, blood extraction, or sacrifice.
---
Since her master asked her to care for the dragon eggs, Sophia checked on them daily, recording any changes herself. Twenty dragonborn warrior servants guarded the door at all times as her trusted aides.
Sophia had thought today would be just another day. She was feeling down (due to Ava's contract) when she entered the hatching room, but then she saw—
The dragon eggs had hatched.
Four little dragons watched her cautiously.
Wait, four?
Sophia was startled, scanning the large room until she found the scarred, bleeding dragon beast hiding in a corner.
Before the four dragons could react, Sophia was by its side, moving with a speed that made them shiver.
Kevin, Yuliya, and the others finally spotted her in the corner, watching as she examined the dragon beast's injuries. A soft glow appeared in her hand as she used hydrotherapy.
The other party checked the dragon beast's injuries, breathed a sigh of relief, and then an aura of hydrotherapy flashed across her palm.
Under the healing of hydrotherapy, the tragic injuries on the dragon beast slowly recovered. The broken dragon scales fell off, and new, tender dragon scales gradually emerged.
After a few hydrotherapy spells, the dragon beast's injuries immediately recovered to a greater extent.
After treating the dragon beast, Sophia got up from the ground, held the sleeping dragon beast in her arms, and the tenderness with which she held him did not escape their eyes as she walked to the four little dragons.
The four little dragons stepped back in panic.
"You four, follow me," Sophia said with a smile.
"I won't go," said the third brother, Saith.
"Who are you?" asked the eldest brother, Kevin.
"Where is this?" asked the second brother, Geller.
"Who are we going to see?" asked the fifth sister, Yulia.
Each dragon's reaction was different, which also expressed their respective personalities and emotions from another perspective: scared, irritable, alert, calm.
"Go and meet..." Sophia pondered for a while, as if she was organizing her words, and the hearts of the four little dragons lifted with anticipation. The crazy shouts in their hearts echoed, hoping it must not be humans—that was what they feared most.
"Go to see the respected and great Lord of Castle Black, Ruler of Dragon Nest, and King of Dragons."
After hearing Sophia's answer, the four little dragons breathed a sigh of relief. It was not humans or other random creatures.
As for the series of titles Sophia mentioned, none of the four little dragons were shocked.
As a true dragon, who doesn't have a high-level title?
Take Kevin, who was born first, for example. When he was fighting with his second and third brothers over eggshells, he had already thought of his future title. To be precise, it was one of them—[King of Green Dragons].
The four little dragons followed Sophia step by step, while she held the sleeping dragon beast in her arms.
During this time, the four little dragons took the initiative to ask some questions, and their expressions were not as nervous as before.
Especially when seeing the dragon-born human servants and dragon-born harpies working everywhere in the castle. This, without exception, showed that this majestic and huge castle belonged to a true dragon.
In fact, the four little dragons had begun to wonder if their father was a black dragon.
Although most Chromatic dragons lay eggs of the same race—for example, black dragons look for black dragons, and green dragons look for green dragons—in rare cases, a red dragon may also look for a green dragon, and a blue dragon may look for a black dragon.
Therefore, it was not impossible that their mother was a green dragon and their father a black dragon.
