Even as I stood there, three-quarters full, my instincts warned me not to linger. This was the heart of the Dark Forest, where danger lurked in every shadow. Though my strength had increased significantly, arrogance would be my downfall.
With a single flap of my broad wings, I took to the skies once more, the body of the massive beast clenched tightly in my claws. Using an invisibility spell once again, I soared higher into the air, disappearing into the clouds.
Moments later, when I was just a few metres above the ground I released the body, sending it hurtling back to the ground like a meteor. It landed with a thunderous crash, the earth trembling beneath the force of impact. Creatures scattered in fear, thinking some earthbound dragon or titan had awoken from the depths.
As the valley returned to its uneasy quiet, I hovered above, looking down at my claws. I clenched and then unclenched them, marveling at the raw strength coursing through me. I had surpassed even my own expectations.
'So, this is what I've become, I thought, a deep satisfaction settling within me. As I landed on the ground.
After the commotion, Skye, Danylan, Winnie, Shea, Mundo, and the other core dependents, who were not on the hunt, gathered swiftly.
Their eyes were wide with astonishment as they gazed upon the deep crater formed by the impact of the giant elephant's corpse.
Understanding dawned on them; this massive presence was the cause of the tremendous tremor that had shaken the land.
Danylan was the first to break the silence, her tone filled with deep respect. "To so easily defeat a monster of such brute strength, all I can say is one word: Master's power is beyond comprehension."
Mundo, meanwhile, stood at the edge of the crater, drooling at the sight of the slain beast. His gaze locked on the massive body, and the magic swirling in its blood made his hunger almost unbearable. "What a feast... Mundo would become stronger, much stronger if Mundo could just—"
But he stopped himself, wiping the saliva from his mouth as he remembered that this prey belonged to his master. With great reluctance, he tore his gaze away from the enticing flesh.Skye stepped forward, recognizing the scarlet elephant instantly.
"This beast has slaughtered over a dozen of our warriors. For it to die at the hands of our master... it's an honor for our fallen comrades. Their souls will finally rest knowing their killer has become prey."
A sense of excitement spread through the group. The death of the scarlet mastodon opened up new possibilities for their clans, as its territory could now be claimed, a resource-rich land ready for their exploitation.
After basking in their admiration for a moment, I spoke with an air of casual authority. "Good. Continue with your duties. As for the elephant—take what you need. Carve off hundreds of tons of its flesh and blood, and take it back to feast on. Such high-order beasts are rare, a delicacy meant to be enjoyed. But remember—skin it first. Send the hide and tusks to the Rose Tribe. They will craft armor and weapons. Mundo could use a weapon better suited to his strength—those tusks will make excellent blunt instruments."
Though bound by contracts, I knew that control through mere force was the lowest form of mastery. By occasionally offering rewards, I could inspire greater loyalty and enthusiasm. As expected, their eyes gleamed with gratitude at my generosity.
'Not only does our master not devour his own like the ancient dragons in the tales, but he shares his power, even offering us such valuable spoils. He's like a god!'
This thought was shared by all who stood before me. Skye, ever the loyal one, dared to think further.
'What a kind master.'
'No... such praise would insult a dragon's pride. It's more fitting to say our master is one worthy of our eternal devotion.
'With newfound determination, Skye, Mundo, Shea, and the others stepped forward, along with their tribes. Mundo and his Bone Crusher kin, and Shadar with his Evil Tooth Tribe, eagerly tried to strip the beast of its dark red fur, as hard as steel, and its steel-like hide.
Despite their best efforts, their blades failed to even scratch the surface. Even Winnie, with her claws, made only minor scratches. Only Shea's short swords, forged from fine magic iron, managed to cut through—but even her efforts barely penetrated the thick hide.
Seeing their hesitation and frustration, I let out a snort and stepped forward. My immense wings unfolded, shimmering in the light, and with movements faster than the eye could follow, I sliced through the elephant's hide as though it were nothing. and I quickly skin the huge beast.
Then, with a powerful grip, I grabbed its massive tusks. Placing my foot against its head, I pulled, ripping them free with a sharp crack as blood sprayed in every direction, drenching those nearby in its life-giving essence. The elephant's precious blood, filled with energy, everyone around me got the taste little taste it's blood filled with abundant energizes. I then cut off the two thick thighs and the trunk of the scarlet giant elephant, each thigh weighing over 100s of tons while the trunk being around 30 to 50 tons with blood spraying everywhere. Soon as it was contained within an invisible barrier.
It was a simple spell of mine: {Zero Tier : Entry- Mage's Hand}
Two large, shimmering hands appeared out of thin air, lifting the beast's massive thighs and trunk from the pit and tossing them at the feet of my dependents.
"Divide it among yourselves and your tribes," I commanded. "Some of you have been stuck at the ninth order for too long. Let's see if the power of the scarlet mastodon's flesh can push you beyond."
Skye, Mundo, and the others immediately knelt, their expressions filled with gratitude. Even the mother crane lowered her head, spreading her wings in a gesture of reverence and thanks.
"Let's share it equally among all Six tribes. Some of you have been stuck at the ninth order for a while. Let's see if you can make a breakthrough after eating the flesh and blood of the scarlet giant elephant." I said lightly.
The 'you' here refer to both Mundo and Skye. The former reached the ninth order a year ago, and the latter also reached the ninth order two months ago. Needless to say, the mother crane has been at a high order from the beginning. As for Danylan, her main job was originally a mage, but the mage professional level is still a little short of level eight, and although the biological order has surpassed the mage level, it is only comparable now. Low Order Ninth.
At this rate, if Danylan wants to reach tenth order in biological order, it will take one or two years if it is fast, and three or four years if it is slow. Breaking through at a large order requires a lot of accumulation, which is basically equivalent to the accumulation of the previous four small levels combined.
In other words, the accumulation required from 5th Order to 9th Order is almost the same as the accumulation required from 9th to 10th. But similarly, after breaking through the order, there will be a huge jump in nearly all stats, which is directly proportional to the amount accumulated.
While others like Shadar, Winnie, Shea, Vic are either on 7th to High 8th Order. Vic being lowest on low 7th order and Shadar being highest on High 8th Order.
"Thank you, Master." Skye, Danylan Mundo, Winnie, Shea, and other members of all five tribes hurriedly knelt down to me, somewhat flattered.
The mother crane chirped softly, spread her wings, lowered her head, and expressed her awe and gratitude in the way of her own tribe.
Although it doesn't have much use for the flesh and blood, if its two cubs eat a large amount of the flesh and blood of the scarlet giant elephant, they can gain considerable benefits. Especially after becoming the master's special dragon vein creature, devouring flesh, blood or resource minerals containing abundant energy can strengthen one's body very efficiently.
Over the years, Mother Crane has only hunted one high-order monster, and it was an ordinary high-order monster that could reach tenth order. And all the high-order monsters naturally entered my stomach.
I was about to leave when Danylan suddenly spoke up. "Master, I have something to report that requires your decision."
Turning back, I met her gaze with curiosity, wondering what could be so important that she dared to interrupt the aftermath of such a glorious hunt.
As I peered down from my elevated perch, I couldn't help but feel a swell of curiosity. "What's happening? Is there another powerful enemy approaching?"
The very reason for my question stemmed from an earlier decree: minor matters were to be resolved among the core dependents without involving me. I had no time nor patience for trivialities. So, if Danylan was here with news, it had to be something significant, something that demanded my attention—perhaps something akin to the conflict with the Brown Forest Wild Dwarves?
My gaze sharpened as I awaited her response. Seeing the change in my expression, Danylan was quick to offer reassurance, sensing that I'd misunderstood.
"No, Master," she began, her voice soothing. "It's not an enemy this time. Do you remember the human mage you brought into the fold? This concerns him."
Her words sparked my memory—Roy, my tenth contracted dependent. Several months back, he approached me with various schemes to accumulate wealth. In time, I made him a hound, tasked with funneling information and resources to me. He excelled at these pursuits, though he was still little more than a tool.
"So what is it this time?" I asked.
Danylan continued, "About a month ago, Roy returned from the Human Principality with a rather... unique offering. A batch of 'special gifts.' He wanted to present them to you personally, but at the time, you were asleep."
This piqued my interest. "Special gifts?" I muttered. "What exactly did Roy deliver?"
"A group of slaves, Master," Danylan replied, her tone matter-of-fact. "Both humans and demi-humans."
There are green-skinned half beast whose fangs are 50% similar to those of forest trolls. There are also green-skinned half beasts who evolved from various beasts. In addition to having racial characteristics, they have seventy-nine characteristics of humans. They are 80% similar to humanoid half beasts, and there are also upright beasts, half beasts whose appearance and features are still mostly beast-like.In short, there are too many races in the astral world, and many race names are repeated.
I didn't ask what type of half beast was. How could this exciting thing of opening a blind box be spoiled?
"Bring them to me," I commanded, a fierce grin spreading across my face. "Let's see what Roy has gifted me this time."
Danylan nodded, departing swiftly with Skye at her side. As they retreated, the other dependents, now busy transporting chunks of the scarlet giant elephant, followed suit, leaving me alone in anticipation.
Soon, I heard the distinct sound of movement along the forest path leading to my lair. My attention sharpened, and when the group finally emerged from the treeline, my anticipation was met with satisfaction.
The first thing that caught my eye was the unmistakable sight of beast-eared girls.
They were escorted by a group of burly kobold warriors, their heads held low in both fear and reverence as they approached my massive form. The humans, ten men and ten women, were of average build and unremarkable appearance. They paled in comparison to the trio of demi-humans, who drew my attention immediately.
Three females—a pair of fox-eared vixens and a lone wolf-eared beauty.
The two fox girls were delicate, their slender forms draped in garments stitched together from rare monster hides. Their eyes sparkled with intelligence and a hint of mischief, and their soft, reddish fur complemented the grace with which they moved.
But it was the wolf girl who stood out the most. Her aura was wild, untamed. Her silver hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall, her golden eyes fierce and unyielding. She stood taller than the fox girls, her frame more muscular, yet still feminine in its power.
'An exotic treasure indeed,' I thought with pleasure, my grin widening.
Aegean half beasts demi-humans were rare in the Material Realm, especially those hailing from the far-off Aegean Continent. The two fox girls and wolf girl were likely sold into slavery due to the insatiable demand for demi-human slaves across realms. Rarity always commanded a price.
Another group is the demi humans. To be more precise, they should be called Aegean half beats. The Aegean half beasts originally came from the Aegean Continent in the Main Material Realm, and were later sold to other material realms by slave traders.
After spreading and multiplying for a long time, there are traces of the Aegean half beasts in many material realms. As for the reason for being trafficked?
Just ask how many races can reject the slaves of beast-eared women?
The essence of life is to pursue desires and realize them.
'Two Fox foxes and one. Is this a Wolf werewolf?' I looked at the three Aegean half beasts female slaves with interest.
"Roy has proven his worth once again," I murmured, pleased with the gifts he'd delivered.
Yes, there are only three Aegean half beasts. I understood this very well. After all, being able to get three of the hot-selling and rare Aegean half beasts slaves is already very impressive.
Without some channels and means, it is impossible to get involved in the sale of such rare commodities."Roy still has good intentions."
I glanced at the three Aegean female half beasts and was quite satisfied with Roy's gift.
One of my dragon to-do list is to collect beautiful maidens mids from all races of all the variants to serve and attend to my whims
These new acquisitions would certainly fit into that vision—though I suspected Roy also meant them as potential meals.
Dragons, after all, were infamous for devouring mortals, whether human or demi-human. Every dragon had its preferences—green dragons, for instance, relished the flesh of elf maidens while disdaining the taste of ordinary humans, considering them unworthy of consumption.
Elves are different. Elves are naturally magical creatures.
From a nutritional point of view, elves are far superior to ordinary humans, and from a taste perspective, they are also far superior to the latter. As for the black dragon.I recalled the dragon heritage and found that most black dragons basically accept food from all sources, including humans and elves.
Anyway, after being pickled in acidic dragon breath, they will all turn into rotten delicacies.
But this is another black dragon, and I have no idea of eating humans or something similar.
Not to mention humans, even humanoid creatures such as goblins and trolls, I can't bear to eat.
There's no way around it, since my soul is human, I am still somewhat mysophobic in this regard. While I was thinking, some of these human slaves and half beast slaves were too frightened, probably thinking that they were about to be eaten, so their legs were so weak that they fell to the ground, and some even peed in fear.
As they drew closer, several of them began trembling, their fear manifesting as they dropped to their knees, some even soiling themselves.
