Castle ruthlessly exposed Winston Weasley's hypocrisy. A selfish mother and son duo, their primary concern was preserving their family's reputation and their own luxurious lifestyle. Why disguise it with high-sounding excuses? No matter how prestigious the family, can they disregard human lives? Sure, they didn't intentionally kill Olivia, but a significant part of the blame for her death lies with this bizarre and self-centered pair! Just to prevent a scandal from tarnishing Blake's senatorial campaign, they caused the death of a daughter he had never even met. This deep-rooted selfishness and indifference are chilling.
The arrogance that this mother and son have always held due to their elevated status was the true cause of Olivia's death. Now, looking at Blake's furious face, Castle knew that from today onwards, the facade of prosperity the Weasley family had maintained would crumble because of Olivia's death. Blake would undoubtedly want to kill his unlucky brother right then and there. Any aspirations Winston had of riding on Blake's coattails to wield power and privilege? Dream on!
Beckett, snapping back to reality, was also infuriated. How dare this accomplice to Olivia's murder act so arrogantly? She dropped her previous conciliatory tone and glared at Winston Weasley, her voice severe: "Stop making excuses for your actions. No matter how you try to cover it up or argue otherwise, Olivia's death is inextricably linked to you. The only thing you can do now is to confess everything that happened that night. That might reduce some of your guilt. You must realize that even if you didn't directly kill Olivia, your actions can be seen as aiding the murderer. Do you understand that when this goes to trial, the DA can charge you as an accomplice to murder, lumping you in with the actual killer?"
Just then, Beckett's phone rang. She answered, speaking quietly for a few moments before her demeanor changed drastically. Although she didn't tell Castle who the caller was, Castle, knowing the case well, was certain that Esposito and the team had made a breakthrough among the prison guards. The police were likely closing in on the real culprit, Frank Davis, the Weasley family matriarch's butler.
Castle remained silent, watching Beckett pressure Winston with renewed intensity. He found grim satisfaction in imagining Winston Weasley, this shameless playboy who loved men, now at the mercy of Beckett. Winston's brazen talk about 'family honor' had only further enraged Beckett, who already had the evidence and knew the true killer. Castle anticipated a dramatic scene would soon unfold.
Beckett didn't disappoint. When she spoke again, it delivered a fresh blow to the already terrified Winston Weasley: "We've established the facts. After monitoring Brady's phone calls this morning, we arranged for the prison guard who incited the riot to stab Brady. We're bringing him in for questioning now. Mr. Winston Weasley, this is your last chance. Once we get the truth from the guard, your testimony won't be unique anymore, and the DA will prosecute you as an accomplice to murder. So, consider your position carefully!"
Despite being a playboy, Winston had enough sense to recognize Beckett's newfound confidence after the phone call meant she wasn't bluffing. And with his brother glaring at him with murderous intent, he realized he was out of options. Resigned to his fate, Winston began to recount what had happened that night ten years ago, spilling the beans completely.
"Ten years ago, Blake was at a crucial point in his New York State Senate campaign. One day, while I was idly wandering around the family office, the receptionist called to say a young woman urgently needed to speak with either Blake or me. Since Blake wasn't available, my curiosity got the better of me, and I agreed to meet this woman who claimed to have important matters to discuss with us.
When we met, she introduced herself as Olivia and told me that her mother had worked for our father's campaign committee in '78 when he ran for senator. During that time, she had an intimate relationship with one of us brothers but, for some unknown reason, didn't stay in New York and returned to her hometown instead. Olivia claimed she didn't know which of us was her father because her mother had never told her. She only knew that her father was a member of the Weasley family.
As soon as she mentioned this, I immediately realized that her mother must have been Blake's old flame who my mother had driven away years ago. What surprised me was that even after twenty years, not only had she not forgotten Blake, but she had secretly borne him a daughter. I knew the woman's departure was orchestrated by my mother because she believed that a small-town girl would be a liability to Blake's political future. To protect Blake's prospects, my mother had discreetly forced her to leave.
Unexpectedly, Olivia's mother had given birth to her without revealing her father's identity. Realizing the potential scandal this revelation could cause during Blake's campaign, I decided to claim that I was Olivia's father to keep her quiet. This way, I could prevent any disruption to Blake's crucial campaign.
After convincing Olivia that I was her father and calming her down, I rushed home to tell my mother. She approved of my decision and insisted we keep this secret from Blake. She knew Blake had only truly loved one woman, and if he found out Olivia was his daughter, he might abandon his senatorial bid to reconnect with his long-lost daughter. This was unacceptable to my mother. Our family's honor and legacy had to be preserved, so my mother and I conspired to keep this from Blake."
Winston Weasley's confession left Blake Weasley seething with rage. He had thought his troublesome brother was the sole culprit, but now his own mother's involvement had been revealed. Learning that his mother had been responsible for driving away his true love years ago and that she had covered up Olivia's existence filled him with uncontrollable fury. Blake, who had always diligently upheld his family's honor, was devastated.
Beckett, unconcerned with Blake's turmoil, was focused solely on uncovering the truth about Olivia's murder ten years ago. She pressed Winston, who had paused his story: "Continue. Why was Olivia murdered in her apartment?"
Resigned to his fate, Winston decided that being imprisoned might be better than living in fear of his vengeful brother. He continued: "After pretending to be Olivia's father and sending her away, I went home to discuss it with my mother. She decided we should deal with Olivia the same way we dealt with her mother—send her back to the countryside. We even considered offering her compensation.
But things went out of control. During a party at the Pearson Club to support Blake's campaign, Olivia suddenly showed up. She confronted me and questioned why I had pretended to be her father. Somehow, she had discovered my sexual orientation and knew I had no interest in women.
She was very agitated and realized that her real father was Blake, the man running for senator. I had no choice but to tell her that it wasn't the right time for her and Blake to reunite. Doing so would destroy Blake's responsible image and damage his campaign.
After calming down, Olivia accepted this and, trusting my promise that she and Blake would reunite after his campaign, left the Pearson Club.
But the next morning, I learned she had been killed. The person responsible for her murder was…"
