The crowd still buzzed with excitement from Damien's victory over Korvath. He could feel their eyes on him, the mix of disbelief and awe that came from seeing a human defeat a vampire.
Selene stood beside him, a little surprised by the outcome. "You should rest," she said, her tone calm but carrying an edge of concern.
"I'm fine," Damien replied, though the strain of the fight was starting to catch up to him.
Just as they turned to leave the arena, a voice cut through the air, mocking and sharp. "Leaving so soon, human? I thought you might enjoy another round."
Damien's steps halted. He turned slowly, scanning the arena until his eyes landed on a familiar figure descending from the stands. It was one of the vampires who had barged into his courtyard previously.
