Damien turned to see one of the disciples, a young man from House Alaric, staring at the same scene.
"Destruction is inevitable," the man continued, shaking his head. "No matter how much we build, how much we fight for dominance... it all crumbles in the end. Only nature remains."
Damien didn't respond immediately. He could sense the truth in those words, but he wasn't one to linger on regret or philosophical debates. Instead, he focused back on the journey.
"What's your name?" Damien finally asked, trying to distract himself from the hollow feeling the ruins left in his chest.
"Zander," the disciple replied. "And you're Damien, right? Heard quite a bit about you."
Damien raised an eyebrow. "Oh yeah? All good things, I hope."
Zander let out a short laugh. "Depends who you ask. Some say you're Lilith's new favorite...toy. Others say you're destined to burn out within the bloodkeep."
