"Are you crazy?" Jessica asked, and Damon raised a brow.
"You know the answer to that, yet you keep asking me. Why? Do you like hearing me say I'm crazy about you?" He asked, and Jessica turned away from him, but he held her arm.
"I'm being serious, Jessica. Okay, you know what? How about we leave this talk for the time being, and then just talk about the issues you mentioned over dinner? You can tell me what the doctors said and how far you went in getting solutions, and I will do my best to help."
"I don't need your help," Jessica said without meeting his gaze.
"Why not?" He asked, turning her so that she would look at him.
"Because that means you'll eventually see me for what I am— a broken woman who can't give you what you want," she said, her voice rising despite herself. "And then you'll leave, so I'll rather not get into all of that drama at all. I don't want to desire something I can't have."
