Hunter sat in his plush leather chair, staring at the document in front of him while Fred, who was seated opposite him, was going over some notes. His brow furrowed in concentration.
Although Hunter looked busy, his mind was a million miles away— or rather, it was with Delilah, who was still fresh in his thoughts.
He remembered the way she'd kissed him before she left and the way she'd said, "I might miss you," before practically running out of the door as if afraid of his response. The memory made him chuckle involuntarily.
Fred glanced up from his notebook, his expression puzzled by the sudden laughter. "Is something wrong, sir?" He asked, wondering if there was a mistake in the file
Hunter shook his head, trying to compose himself, but the grin lingered on his face. "Nothing," Hunter said without looking up from the document.
