Alex watched as Chloe walked in, her dark brown hair cascading over her shoulders, her heels clicking sharply against the polished floor.
She was dressed to impress, in a short, sequin red dress that clung to her figure, drawing the gaze of nearly every man in the room.
But Alex's expression remained neutral, perhaps even slightly displeased. As Chloe made her way over, he checked his watch, a deliberate gesture meant to convey his irritation. She was nearly thirty minutes late. He despised tardiness.
Chloe approached the table with a wide, confident smile, clearly expecting to charm him.
When she got to him, he placed his phone on recorder before rising, "Chloe Sterling?" He asked, without returning her smile.
"Yes. I'm Chloe. Your fiancée," she said with a coy smile, fluttering her lashes.
"You are late," he pointed out as he pulled out a seat for her.
