Delilah chewed on her lower lip thoughtfully, then looked back at Hunter, her eyes serious. "If you're asking if I am in love with you, the answer is no. But if you're asking if I'm attracted to you and if I like you as a person then the answer is yes. I don't have it in me to fall in love with anyone."
Hunter's gaze softened, and he reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. "I wish I met you earlier, and under a different circumstance."
"Why?" She asked with a roll of her eyes.
"Because maybe then I would have met the happier and cuter version of you, not this stubborn and hardhearted version. Unless of course you were born this way then I would have had to make do with what I have," he said and she giggled.
Delilah's heart fluttered when he lifted her hand to his lips and kissed her palm, and she sighed deeply as she met his gaze.
