Adrian stood on the patio of his bedroom his heart filled with unease, it was just few minutes after his wife left the house but his heart was filled with foreboding, suddenly Caleb burst into the room, panick written all over his face "your wife, your wife, the vampires discovered she is a witch, they set her on fire" he cried "that's impossible she..." "I also don't know how it became possible but they are heading this direction, they are coming for Ezra, they claim he has the blood of a witch and no witch is allowed in Grey moon" Caleb said, "leave this city Adrian, save the child" he added, Adrian clenched his fist his gaze outside in the direction of the market where he could already see the thick flames and he took in a deep breath and hurried to Ezra's room, Melvin had already packed the little child things, "I heard all what Caleb said but i don't believe my mistress would die so easily, I would be counting on you to take little Ezra to safety for now" Melvin muttered and Adrian picked up his son "try" Melvin said and Adrian nodded and hurried out of the house "mom is dead?" little Ezra asked "she isn't, she went on an underwoldly journey" Adrian muttered and Ezra went silent deciding to keep his thoughts to himself.
Adrian clutched Ezra to his chest, his son's small body stiff with tension, he sprinted through the winding streets of Grey Moon, his heart racing with every step, the mob was closing in, their rods and sticks at the ready, Ezra's face was set in a determined mask, his eyes fixed on some point ahead, he didn't cry or whimper, but his tiny hands gripped Adrian's shirt with a fierce intensity, Adrian's breath came in ragged gasps as he dodged and weaved through the narrow alleys, he knew every turn, every hidden corner, he'd lived here all his life, but never thought he'd be running for his son's life, the mob's roar grew louder, their footsteps pounding the cobblestones, Adrian's arms tightened around Ezra, shielding him from the chaos, as they turned a corner, Adrian spotted a narrow opening between two buildings, he darted into the gap, his back scraping against the rough stone, for a moment, they paused, catching their breath, Adrian listened, his ear pressed against the wall, the mob thundered past, their shouts and curses echoing off the buildings, he took a deep breath and stepped out from the narrow alley, his eyes on the city gates in the distance, he could hear the loud yells of the wild mob and he tightened his grip on Ezra and made a beeline for the gates, they burst through the entrance, Adrian's heart racing with fear, he didn't stop running until they reached the outskirts of the city, the buildings growing fewer and farther between, finally, they reached the safety of the forest, the trees looming above them like sentinels, Adrian slowed to a stop, his chest heaving with exhaustion, he looked down at Ezra, who gazed back at him with an unwavering stare, Adrian's heart swelled with pride and love for his son "We made it, kiddo," he whispered, his voice shaking with emotion "We're safe", Ezra's face remained stoic, but a small nod betrayed his relief, Adrian smiled, hugging his son tightly "We'll find a new home, a new life. Just you and me, okay?" he muttered, they rested for a bit and began their journey to God knows where.
After five grueling days of walking, Adrian and Ezra stumbled into Guttric City, their bodies worn down by hunger, thirst, and exhaustion, Adrian's eyes scanned the unfamiliar surroundings, his gaze met with a mixture of curiosity and hostility from the locals, their appearance was far from presentable - dirty, dusty, and disheveled, their clothes were tattered and their body reeked of sweat and animal blood, which they had resorted to drinking to survive, despite the initial chilliness, a few kind-hearted souls took pity on them, offering food and shelter. Adrian's gratitude was palpable as he accepted their generosity, Ezra, however, had already reached his breaking point, the little warrior's strength had finally given out, and he slept for an entire day, his small body exhausted from the ordeals
