Falling in and out of large port holes bumping into the large stones on almost every part of the road, an old carriage wobbled as it rode through the bumpy road behind Kraco city, it rode all the way till it got stuck in a pile of dung and it wouldn't move again, the driver of the carriage hoped out with an ugly expression, "I so much hate this road" he cried in frustration as he kicked the carriage and it wobbled furiously if it weren't for the horse supporting it, as soon as it balanced another person stepped out, a woman dressed so luxuriously, "were you trying to topple the carriage over and kill me" she yelled, the man frowned but he said nothing "and what is it that you are doing standing there, go get something to get us out of this" she said "Madam Rebecca I might need your help to push the carriage" the driver said and the woman with the name Madam Rebecca looked at him in disbelief "you want me to push the carriage with you?, are you out of your mind, how dare you insult me like that" she screamed "if you stupid idiot wouldn't get help and my brother happens to find us, I would tell him you were trying to kidnap me" she said and the driver's expression became uglier, he looked at the pile of dung the carriage was stuck in and almost toppled the carriage in anger. Anger written all over his face he strolled into the green bushes trying to find a large stick that could be used to lift the carriage as he strolled to the other side of the bush he suddenly stumbled on something and almost fell and immediately the bush got filled with the little cry of a baby, he expression turned confused and his brows furrowed, he shifted the leaves covering the slightly swollen part he stumbled upon and a frail little child wrapped in a dirty grey cloth came to his sight, his brows furrowed deeply, he looked around the place wondering who would be so cruel to dump a little child in a bush but the bush was deserted, he gently picked the child patting her soothingly to stop her cries but she wouldn't stop, her temperature was hot and her body had blood like stains on it worst of all, she appeared to be just newly born her umbilical cord hadn't been cut and was sticking out of the cloth used to wrap her, he immediately dashed for the carriage, the baby needed urgent help or she would die, "is that a baby?" madam Rebecca asked in shock "yes madam, she is still a new born and hasn't been taken care of she needs urgent help" the carriage driver said hurriedly "a baby!, wow!!, could my luck be any better?" Madam Rebecca cried excitedly and immediately took the baby from the driver, the carriage driver frowned he didn't feel it was a good thing that madam Rebecca was so pleased to see the baby and she was even willing to touch the baby upon how dirty she is, "madam, I couldn't find anything for the carria...." "don't worry I would help you push it" she said and the carriage driver frowned deeply, he felt confused "hurry up you idiot, this child has to live" she cried as she placed the baby in the fruit basket she just pulled out of the carriage, looking at her now, no one would believe that this was the same madam Rebecca, treating a dirty child so well like she gave birth to her, without a word the carriage driver immediately began pushing the carriage and madam Rebecca supported with all the strength she could muster, minutes passed and the carriage was finally out of the dung, sweating all over madam Rebecca picked the little child and hoped into the carriage, the driver hoped in too and the wild ride to the next city began, madam Rebecca was the most anxious of all that she kept screaming at the carriage driver to ride faster untill they finally arrived at Luther City, a city eighty miles away from Kraco city
They hastened for the pharmacy and luckily the nurse there was free enough to help the child. Hours passed and dusk set in, the nurse finally strolled out after a long time of staying indoors, "How is the baby" Madam Rebecca questioned hurriedly almost scaring the nurse away, "she is fine, we would monitor her till tomorrow then you can take her with you" the nurse said with a dissatisfied and madam Rebecca sighed in great relief, she sat in the waiting bench with happiness written all over her face, that expression was the one confusing the carriage driver all the while, "Peter, tomorrow I would be welcomed into the Macmillan household with open arms" she said to the carriage driver who bared the name Peter, "that baby solved all my problems already, here goes my story; I disappeared from Echmen city because I discovered I was pregnant with Victor's child and since he was so blindly in love with Sarah I had to leave. Just before I gave birth I heard of Sarah's betrayal and I decided to come back to Victor to keep his company fortunately the following day I had my little baby girl and it only strengthened my decision to come back to Victor" madam Rebecca said and laughed happily but Peter frowned, he already knew nothing good was going to come out of her strong will to save the baby, "but what if the Macmillan family seek your brother, it would expose everything" Peter said and Madam Rebecca scoffed "why did you think I hardly went back to his place after leaving Echmen city, I had this all planned, I caused Sarah to betray Victor, I planned to adopt a child in this city but look how luck came shining on me" she muttered and laughed again, Peter went silent but his dissatisfaction was very evident, "if you say a word about what I just told you Peter, I would make sure I have your head on my plate" she said with an evil smile and Peter nodded in understanding, he could only pity the little baby.
