Gelin Village was not large, with only eighty-seven households.
The village was situated to the north of a large mountain, and the northern wall of the northernmost residential house was almost built up against the mountain.
The farmland to the east was mostly reclaimed on the mountain, presenting a significant slope, and due to the poor soil, the crops in a large area of the fields were sparse and scattered. Even weeds were seldom seen.
To the south was the cliff Wang Chen had come across, while to the west a river stretched out from the depths of the mountain.
The river broke off at the cliff as though it were a waterfall cascading directly down, forming perhaps the only scenic attraction in this impoverished village.
Wang Chen walked into the village on a path full of pebbles.
After receiving the phone call, he had rushed over, and had forgotten to ask Yao Ruyi where they lived.
