Heirloom?
Upon hearing these three words, Wang Chen and Zhang Hu were at first surprised, then looked curiously towards the object in Liu Shitou's hand.
It was a rectangular box.
Its age was apparent from the mottled red lacquer on its surface and the hasp lock embedded at its edge; it must have existed for many years.
Zhang Hu looked at Wang Chen and asked with great curiosity, "What's inside this thing?"
Wang Chen scratched his head in bewilderment, "I don't know either, and Grandpa never mentioned anything about this box to me."
After saying this, he turned to Liu Shitou, "Little Fifth Brother, when did Grandpa give you this box?"
Liu Shitou placed the box in front of Wang Chen and said, "Your Grandpa gave it to me a month before he passed away. That day was similar to today, with a light drizzle falling. I had just returned from working in town and happened to see your Grandpa standing at the edge of the village.
