Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 Urgent Rescue

Chu Yang started wandering around the county town looking for herbal medicine stores. He found several, but all of them did not accept herbs. They suggested Chu Yang try Qingcao Hall Pharmacy in the county, as they might accept the herbs.

After finding out where Qingcao Hall Pharmacy was located, Chu Yang headed there.

Qingcao Hall Pharmacy was the largest pharmacy in town with franchise stores in every county.

As Chu Yang walked into the Chinese-style Qingcao Hall, he thought to himself, "This Qingcao Hall Pharmacy is much more imposing than the other medicine stores and boasts the best decoration in the entire county. These drugstores really do make a lot of money."

Chu Yang's arrival at Qingcao Hall immediately drew attention from others.

Firstly, because of Chu Yang's handsome face with its strong features, he exuded a masculine air from head to toe, virtually all of the female gazes in Qingcao Hall were fixed on him.

Secondly, it was because of his shabby appearance; a dirt-colored top, filthy camouflage pants, and yellow rubber shoes caked with mud—it took only a glance to recognize that Chu Yang was a farmer from the mountains.

In Qingcao Hall, amongst the fairly attractive female sales clerks wearing white lab coats, their eyes lit up at first sight of Chu Yang's looks: "What a handsome man."

Then, as they noticed the mud-stained clothes and shoes he wore, their excitement was quickly replaced with disappointment, and they shook their heads internally: "Although he's handsome, what use is that nowadays? You can't eat good looks. Having money is much better."

"Such a pity, if only he was both handsome and rich," several attractive young sales clerks sighed to themselves.

Chu Yang looked around Qingcao Hall, but nobody paid him any mind.

He approached a sales clerk with a melon-seed face, a fair complexion, and a tall figure, and asked, "Hello, do you buy medicine here?"

The sales clerk, seeing Chu Yang dirty and his shoes covered with mud, showed a look of disgust and said impatiently, pointing at him, "Keep your distance from me, you're filthy, covered in dirt, don't dirty my clothes."

Chu Yang frowned and took two steps back: "Is this far enough?"

The sales clerk nodded reluctantly, "What do you want?"

"Do you buy medicine here?" Chu Yang inquired again.

The sales clerk looked at Chu Yang with contempt as if the words "looking down on you" were written across her face: "We do buy medicine, but what kind of good medicine could you possibly have? Just look at yourself, covered in dirt, absolutely filthy."

"Go away, quickly, don't dirty our floor here," she snapped.

Chu Yang's gaze turned cold, and he was about to speak when a series of urgent cries diverted his attention.

Two women, supporting a petite woman with an absurdly large chest and a body full of mature charm, rushed in from outside: "It's terrible, the general manager has been bitten by a venomous snake... Quick, someone, save her..."

"You all hurry up and help!" the two women urgently yelled to the staff of Qingcao Hall.

They immediately went to assist, helping the snakebite victim sit down on a chair.

"What happened? How did the general manager get bitten by a venomous snake?" Qingcao Hall staff inquired.

"We were just walking and chatting with the general manager when suddenly a venomous snake sprang out from the grass and bit her," said one of the women.

"After the general manager was bitten, she immediately became dizzy and started swaying; we quickly supported her and brought her here," added the other woman.

A staff member of Qingcao Hall instinctively commented, "How unlucky... to get bitten by a snake that strikes out on the road... that's some seriously bad luck..."

"It's strange, logically speaking, there aren't many animals in the county town, and poisonous snakes are rarely seen, right?" someone questioned, perplexed.

"The general manager is really unlucky, to have been bitten by a poisonous snake."

The staff at Qingcao Hall Pharmacy were all abuzz with discussion.

"Oh my, what time is it now? A life is at stake here, hurry up and save them!"

"Yes, yes, yes, quickly take out all the antidotes from our Medicine Hall," Doctor Hu, who was on duty at Qingcao Hall, urged anxiously.

The staff at Qingcao Hall quickly brought out all the antidotes from the Medicine Hall.

But they faced a problem.

There were many antidotes at Qingcao Hall, and quite a few for snake venom in particular, but they didn't know which kind of poisonous snake had bitten their general manager, nor which specific antidote to use. If they used the wrong one, the consequences could be unthinkable.

The other doctors on duty at Qingcao Hall were also at a loss. Usually, they just took blood pressure measurements and prescribed medicine for minor ailments like colds and headaches. When it came to emergency procedures like this, they were completely clueless and did not know how to proceed with the rescue.

"If it doesn't work out, we must rush to the hospital," someone suggested.

"Right, right, we shouldn't use the antidote at random, it's safer to go to the hospital," another person said.

"Yes, yes! Call the emergency number for the hospital right away," someone said, taking out their mobile phone, ready to make the call.

Chu Yang's voice rang out, "If we can't determine the type of snake venom she's been poisoned with, even if we get her to the hospital, they wouldn't dare to treat her rashly, especially since the poison is spreading rapidly through her body."

"If she doesn't receive effective rescue within ten minutes, I'm afraid she'll be beyond saving."

All the people in Qingcao Hall turned to look at Chu Yang.

Seeing his dirty camouflage pants and mud-stained yellow rubber shoes, a hint of disdain and confusion appeared in their eyes.

"Who is this guy?" someone asked.

The tall saleswoman, who had earlier looked down on Chu Yang, spoke with disdain, "He's just a farmer who came here to sell herbs, covered in dirt, absolutely filthy."

"Besides, what does a farmer who can barely recognize a few characters know about anything," the tall saleswoman said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Chu Yang furrowed his brows but ignored her words, "Your general manager's condition is very dangerous at the moment. The snake venom in her body must be expelled quickly, or her life is at risk."

"Do you have a way to do that?" someone asked.

Chu Yang nodded, "I can save her."

"Hahaha!!! That's hilarious; you think you, a farmer who just popped out of the backwoods, can save someone? You must be bluffing," someone laughed.

"Indeed, indeed, you better get out of the way, don't cause trouble here. If you delay the general manager's rescue because of you, I won't let you off the hook," said another.

"Go on, get out of the way, you who grub in the soil for food, what do you know," someone railed at Chu Yang.

Chu Yang gave them an icy glare, "A bunch of fools, I don't have time to argue with you now, because of you idiots, two minutes have been wasted. Now, this woman has only eight minutes left to be rescued."
