"Come on,give me the key."
"I won't."
"Why!"
Two guys in slightly rusty building are fighting for the keys of a motorcycle.
"Because father gave it to me."
"But I need it to go to the party!"
"Not my problem."
Said the guy who holds the keys. They were still arguing when they suddenly heard a noise from the room beside their's.
"Ah ah ah..."
"Agh, these bastards are starting again."
"I'm heading out."
"Let me go with you."
"Suit yourself."
They went out together. The boy with the keys started the motorcycle and said.
"Wanna ride."
"No."
The other boy said coldly.
"OK, bye."
Then he started the engine, which was making loud noises and went away.
Looking at his brother back fading into the distance, the boy sighed.
"When will I have my own motorcycle."
Lamenting while walking on the road, the boy saw many signs and many shops, he kept walking until he saw a house almost like a mansion. He tried to enter when the guards stopped him.
"Halt!"
"Show us the invitation card."
Then, he pulled his invitation card out of the pocket on his coat. And gave it to the guards. After checking it, the guard with the blue coat said.
"You may enter."
"Thank you."
Entering the mansion like house, he saw many people. A lot of them wore expensive clothes unlike his. He noticed a boy with short blonde hair coming up to him.
"You came, I'm glad."
"Yes, well, you did insist."
"Yes, I did, hahaha."
"Come on, let me show you around."
Then he took me around the house, introduced me to many people though most were not interested, only showing interest on the outside.
I don't blame them who would be interested in a commoner, ah well, this guy is. This guy is the owner of the house and the party host. The reason he shows interest in me is:
"Have you thought about it."
"Not really."
"Well, you should."
He is talking about becoming a monster killer after seeing me beat some gangsters. He said I have potential. Then he went up to the podium.
"Attention, everyone."
The crowd went silent.
"I'm sure a lot of you are wondering why I made this party. Well, I'm going to monster killer institution."
The announcement caused uproar in the crowd. They spoke to each other in murmurs.
"Crazy."
"As expected of house Sicon."
"What a man."
I looked at the guy who said such bombarding announcement and thought:
'Is he crazy'
No one would throw himself at danger.
And who would when they can live a normal life away from it.
"I know most of you would think I'm crazy but as someone from the Sicon family it's my responsibility to protect the common people. That's why I invited you here to ask for your support, please support me in my quest."
Then he did a 90 degree bow. The crowd seeing this rushed to him.
"Please you don't have to bow to us, we well of course support you."
"We well support you, young master."
"We all support you."
"Thank you everyone for your support, then enjoy the party."
Having finished his speech alot of people talked to him, seeing from afar I thought:
'That's a real noble for you.'
I went out the house feeling bored, back on the road I entertained useless thoughts.
'What if I become a monster killer I can earn alot of money, I can also protect alot of people, I can become quite famous.'
Shaking my useless thoughts I continued down the road until I saw my rusty apartment, I went in and laid down on the bed, today was really exhausting arguing with my brother, and going to the party. Now I just want to sleep. I thought about monster killers until I went asleep.
The next morning. I woke up feeling fresh. I stretched my arms, legs , and did some exercises. Then made breakfast.
I woke up my brother, told him to wash his hands and eat with me.
"How was your party."
Said my brother not really interested.
"It was fun."
"Good for you."
"What about you."
"Same same."
Half into the breakfast my brother said something shocking:
"I want to be a monster killer."
"What."
"You heard me."
"Why!? How!!? When!!!?"
"Calm down, since a while back I've been thinking about it."
"Our parents won't approve of this, i won't approve of this."
"They don't have to know, and come on man don't be such an ass."
"I still won't approve of it."
"I'll still do it."
My brother is very stubborn.
"Do you know what the recruitments to become a monster killer, you have to kill a fucking monster!"
"I know that's why I will go with my friends, and we also have equipment necessary to kill one."
My brother tried to persuade me slowly and calmly. But I was also very stubborn maybe more then my brother.
"It's still very dangerous!, this won't work I will go with you and won't take a no for an answer."
My brother sighed.
"Can't help it, but you have to stay at the back and do nothing, understand?"
"Understood."
Finshing my breakfast, I was anxious the whole day. Next morning on Saturday I went with my brother to promised place. Hoping nothing goes wrong.
My heart raced as we approached the edge of the city where the concrete gave way to dense forest. The sun had barely risen, casting a pale light that made everything look surreal. My brother walked ahead, his back straight with determination. I followed, trying to ignore the growing knot in my stomach.
We met up with his friends at an old, abandoned warehouse that served as their meeting point. They were a ragtag group, each carrying a mix of confidence and fear. The leader, a tall guy named Marcus, handed out weapons: a mix of makeshift spears, knives, and a couple of old pistols.
"Are you ready?" Marcus asked, looking directly at my brother.
He nodded. "Let's get this over with."
We moved into the forest, the canopy above blocking most of the early morning light. The air was thick with humidity and the sounds of rustling leaves and distant animal calls. My brother kept his promise, making sure I stayed at the back, but I could see his shoulders tense with every step.
We didn't have to go far before we found tracks—deep, clawed impressions in the soft earth. Marcus examined them closely. "We're close," he whispered, signaling for silence.
We followed the tracks to a small clearing. There, feeding on the carcass of a deer, was the monster. It was a grotesque mix of scales and fur, with glowing red eyes and a mouth full of sharp teeth. The sight of it sent a chill down my spine.
"Remember the plan," Marcus said, his voice barely audible. "Surround it, and attack from all sides."
The group spread out, forming a loose circle around the creature. My brother gave me one last look, a mixture of resolve and fear in his eyes. Then, with a signal from Marcus, they charged.
The fight was brutal and chaotic. The monster was faster and more agile than any of us had anticipated. It lashed out with claws and teeth, wounding several of my brother's friends. My brother managed to land a few hits, but it wasn't enough to bring the creature down.
Seeing my brother in danger, I couldn't just stand back and do nothing. Grabbing a fallen spear, I joined the fray. The monster, sensing a new threat, turned its attention to me. Heart pounding, I braced myself for the attack.
As the monster lunged, my brother yelled, "Now!" The distraction was enough. Marcus and another friend managed to strike the creature in its exposed flank. With a final, desperate thrust, my brother drove his spear into the monster's heart. It let out a horrific screech before collapsing to the ground, dead.
We stood there, panting and covered in sweat and blood. The reality of what we had just done began to sink in. We had killed a monster. We had done the impossible.
My brother walked over to me, a mixture of relief and pride on his face. "We did it," he said, pulling me into a tight hug.
As we made our way back to the city, I couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment and fear. We had proven ourselves, but at what cost? The path we were on was fraught with danger, and there would be many more monsters to face.
Back at our apartment, we cleaned up and tended to our wounds. The adrenaline was wearing off, leaving us exhausted but triumphant. My brother looked at me, his eyes serious. "This is just the beginning," he said. "We need to be prepared for what's to come."
I nodded, understanding the weight of his words. We had made a choice, and there was no turning back now. Together, we would face whatever came our way, ready to protect our world from the monsters lurking in the shadows.
As I lay in bed that night, my mind raced with thoughts of the future. The journey ahead would be dangerous, but with my brother by my side, I felt a glimmer of hope. We were ready to become monster killers.
