Chapter 23 - Chapter 23 The Truth

Huang Yi was suddenly shocked, staring at Lei Shen in disbelief.

The nuclear leak in the Pacific Ocean was the most profound pain in human history. This event caused the death of one billion people, and the economic loss was incalculable, nearly leading to the collapse of human society. If not for the Era of Corporation's strenuous efforts to establish the World Federation to maintain global order, humanity might have faced the End of the World. Such a crime was unparalleled, even when compared to all the criminals in human history combined, and yet the middle-aged man named Lei Shen before him was the instigator of this disaster!

Compared to that, Huang Yi's assassination of the Federal President Beino Kang was nothing, not a crime on the same level.

"Surprised, aren't you? Do you think I'm a man of heinous crimes?" Lei Shen stared at Huang Yi, snorted coldly, and his face turned grim, making the entire prison seem to freeze. He looked around the room, and wherever his gaze reached, the criminals in the darkness bowed their heads, not daring to meet his eyes.

"People only know that a group of terrorists planned the nuclear leak in the Pacific, committing a grave sin, but who knows, if not for these so-called terrorists, it would have been the end of all mankind!" Lei Shen's tone held a trace of rage. "Back then, Beino Kang was utterly heartless, secretly mass-producing nuclear weapons on the Pacific seafloor, aiming to start a new world war and completely dominate the world. While my team and I were on a mission in the Pacific, we stumbled upon Beino Kang's mad plan. We exhausted every effort to destroy his nuclear plant, but Beino Kang dumped all the nuclear materials into the Pacific, leading to the nuclear leak."

Huang Yi was immediately silent. Before this, he only knew the Pacific nuclear leak as a terrorist act; he had never imagined the truth was the complete opposite—that Lei Shen was not a World Destroyer, but a Savior.

Noticing what Huang Yi was thinking, Lei Shen gave a bitter smile, saying, "Surprised, right? But there's nothing I can do. Beino Kang's power is too large to contend with; the truth has always been in their hands, while I've been framed as a terrorist and left holding the bag. Later, I was sentenced to death and scheduled for execution after twelve years. Now it's already the tenth year. Yet the real culprit, Beino Kang, has openly received the support of the Era of Corporation and has become the President of the World Federation!"

"For such a big incident, wouldn't the Era of Corporation thoroughly investigate it?" At that moment, Louis couldn't help but ask from the corner.

"The Era of Corporation?" Lei Shen shook his head, his tone filled with disdain, "They are all a bunch of selfish people, indulging in their scientific technology all day, not caring about the outside world. If it weren't for the severity of the incident, the Era of Corporation wouldn't care about the life and death of outsiders; to them, the truth is worthless. And Mr. Huang Sha, the president of the Era of Corporation, lives in seclusion, unconcerned with worldly matters, unreachable by anyone."

The prison fell silent, each criminal's face shadowed with grievances that were firmly locked within this dark prison, unable to be released, unknown to the more than ten billion people in the world.

"Now you know why we applauded you!" Lei Shen turned to look at Huang Yi, "You killed Beino Kang, and in a way, you avenged me. Not only that, many people here in Rose Prison were framed by Beino Kang's faction."

As he spoke, he pointed to each person nearby and introduced, "This is Mas, once an assassin cultivated by Beino Kang four years ago. Exposed during a secret mission, he was framed and sentenced to life imprisonment."

"That is Téngyuán Chuān, who was framed and sentenced to life imprisonment for opposing Beino Kang's military expansion project."

"And that is Lee Ji, Korea's most popular male star three years ago, coveted by Beino Kang's homosexual son. Lee Ji didn't submit, and after being raped, he was secretly sent here. To this day, his fans still don't know where he's gone."

...

Lei Shen introduced more than a dozen criminals in succession, each one suffering great injustice, all more or less framed by Beino Kang's faction, locked away here, cut off from the world.

Lei Shen looked around once again, his gaze sweeping over the silent faces of the criminals in the darkness, finally resting on Huang Yi, saying, "Some of the criminals in Rose Prison are innocent, imprisoned for life here merely for offending Beino Kang's power. They have no chance for exoneration or revenge. By killing Beino Kang, you've avenged us greatly!"

Huang Yi looked around, and although he couldn't see their expressions clearly, their eyes shone brightly in the dark, like dazzling stars filled with heartfelt gratitude from the depths of their souls.

Huang Yi hadn't expected that by killing one Beino Kang, he had indirectly avenged so many people.

"I was only avenging myself; you don't need to thank me," Huang Yi turned his head to look around, "Besides, I only killed Beino Kang; I couldn't bring down the remnants of his power. They still control the World Federation without damaging the roots."

The atmosphere in the prison briefly stagnated as if an invisible mountain was pressing down on them. The World Federation was that mountain, crushing them firmly in place, ensuring they could never leave, never clear their names.

The rain outside the window intensified, continuous and unending, with no sign of when it would stop.

"Why do you get to live a special life?" At this point, Huang Yi's gaze was fixed on that cup of Starbucks coffee. The cup was ordinary, but in Rose Prison, it was on par with the Holy Grail, as it came from the beautiful outside world—a place no one in Rose Prison could reach.

"Because I'm the boss here!" Lei Shen turned to glance at the criminals around him, "Rose Prison holds the world's most criminally charged people. Others can't control these madmen, but I can! They might not listen to the prison guards, but they have to listen to me! By solving such a big problem for the Prison Warden, shouldn't he treat me well? To him, this is a profitable transaction!"

Huang Yi instantly understood that Rose Prison was indeed full of willful individuals, difficult for any ordinary person to manage; only through violence could one control them. Lei Shen was responsible for maintaining order in the prison, the Prison Warden for providing Lei Shen with benefits—it was certainly a worthwhile deal. To the Prison Warden, a cup of coffee was a trifling matter, but it was an invaluable treasure to those inside the prison.

"From today on, you're also a boss here, you'll share my meat, you'll get your soup," Lei Shen said.
