Pavel had been to this Virtual Space before, and the pain settings weren't that high at the time, roughly similar to those in a game, only at about 5%.
So whether it was falling from a high place or being attacked by a Hunter or zombies, it didn't hurt that much—it was more of a psychological trauma.
But this time, the pain sensitivity in this Virtual Space was noticeably higher!
Of course, it still wasn't set to 100%; it wasn't identical to real-life pain, but at least around 50%.
As a result, hits to relatively unimportant areas, such as the arms and thighs, wouldn't cause much harm and were much lighter than actual pain; but it was different for vital areas. For instance, a kick to the groin could still cause excruciating pain enough to completely incapacitate a person.
