A human-shaped shadow burst forth from the surface, only to sink back down again. As it rose and fell, it would at one moment take on a human shape, and at the next, revert to a form of black smoke.
After dozens of attempts to break free, it finally sank to the bottom and disappeared. Only a ring of ripples remained, slowly spreading out before returning to calm, once again resembling a glass mirror.
"What a pity," Shi Dechun remarked with a face full of sorrow.
