Although Mr. Jim was very angry, he eventually calmed down somewhat and began to speak about his family's situation—The Millerson family originated in sea trading, and by his generation, only two three-masted ships remained in the family. Jim risked everything to sail between Sicily and the Southern Archipelago. In his youth, he was considered a genius, capable of fighting; he even led his father's old comrades to seize two two-decker ships from pirates.

Later, when the Changtangians' fleet arrived, he seized the opportunity and began trading with them.
