Early on the weekend, as the cold air descended once again, Durin brought the girls, who were bundled up like rice dumplings, to the home of Major General Koss.

Mrs. Koss opened the door and warmly greeted Durin and the others, "I'll go wake up my husband. You all come in and take a seat."

Since it was his own teacher, Durin didn't need to stand on ceremony. He entered the living room and, as expected, saw the small sweater Mrs. Koss was knitting.

It wasn't long before Major General Koss came downstairs. Seeing Durin and his girls, the general let out a hearty laugh, "It seems Mr. Durin and the young ladies are still not quite accustomed to the weather of the North."

In the end, Tanya did not make the trip—her identity was too sensitive and not suitable for going to the Northern Territory.

As for Durin's other girls, who were all from the South, their only feeling about the October weather that could drop to zero degrees in the North was that it was like seeing a ghost.
