Why do people like playing games?
Why do people like reading novels?
Why do people get addicted to scrolling through short videos?
Seemingly different forms of entertainment, they all share a common underlying logic.
That is, life is just too damn unreasonable, and often after being tormented by various things to the point of exhaustion, life doesn't give us even a bit of reward.
These forms of entertainment, however, allow one to effortlessly obtain short-term stimulation.
The reward data that pops up in games, combined with the corresponding game sound effects, is thrilling.
Getting immersed as the protagonist in a novel, experiencing pleasures unattainable in the real world through the character, is exhilarating.
Scrolling through videos is even more terrifying; with just a flick of a finger, one can obtain happiness or other stimulations—it's just too damn exhilarating.
