Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: It's PPD, Not PDD!

The church relief station has always been a favorite among the homeless community.

On one hand, most Americans are religious, and there is a large congregation in churches; many believers who become homeless tend to prefer going to church relief stations.

They collect their relief while listening to the shepherd preach.

Isn't it wonderful to play the game of blowing up Gold Coins while simultaneously accumulating virtue?

Another reason is that church relief stations tend to distribute a wider variety of items.

The relief supplies at the church mainly come from donations by the congregation and purchases made with church funds.

The types of items donated by believers can often be quite miscellaneous.

You might even get a game console.

Apart from not dispensing happy drugs, the church relief station is perfect.

So, today's line is exceptionally long.

It was so long that Cheng Daqi counted the droppings on the ground twice before it was his turn with Sani.

"Hi, today we have two types of burgers, chicken leg burgers and beef burgers, as well as some drinks," said the volunteer processing Cheng Daqi.

There were several volunteers distributing goods, and Cheng Daqi encountered an Asian girl.

"Arigato, I come from Japan, are you also Japanese?"

Cheng Daqi took the bag filled with food and casually struck up a conversation.

He didn't say he was from Hua Country.

Having come to America to beg already.

He couldn't embarrass his homeland any further.

In fact, Hua people have had a somewhat tarnished reputation abroad for some time, for multiple reasons.

One reason is that when Japan's economy was booming in the last century, Japanese people were more active in Europe and America.

When they committed misdeeds, they often claimed to be from Hua Country.

Those guys really were no good!

Lately, with more Hua people traveling abroad, they've also started to claim they're Japanese.

You play your trick on the first of the month, and I'll play mine on the fifteenth.

As if righting a wrong with another wrong.

Right now, Cheng Daqi was pretending to be Japanese.

The young Asian volunteer handing out the aid looked young, wearing a pink and white hoodie with a black skirt. She probably had indoor clothes underneath.

She could be a college student.

Cheng Daqi surmised.

"Kuqi wa," she smiled in response, her eyes were the peach-blossom shaped kind that held a soft charm, fluttering one's heartstrings when she smiled.

Cheng Daqi fell silent for a moment, then began to analyze.

Los Angeles, weekend church volunteer, from Hua Country.

"PPD?" he ventured tentatively.

"Huh?"

The young woman looked at Cheng Daqi with disbelieving eyes, unable to conceal her astonishment.

She hadn't said anything except where she was from and her fondness for Japan...

Even if Conan himself took over, he couldn't be this good, right?

"Sir, you, I'm sorry, I don't know what to say, are you by chance the legendary Japanese detective from the stories?"

At this moment, the mind of this little fellow Hua Country native was full of question marks.

With a helpless shrug of his shoulders, Cheng Daqi confessed that he was just bluffing.

The more memorable the impression one makes at first meeting, the easier it is to deepen the relationship in the future.

He was starting from scratch in America, and upon meeting an ethnic Hua, potentially even Roman Hua, he naturally wanted to make an acquaintance.

Saint Rodu's PPD is one of America's lesser-known but high-threshold institutions of learning.

With a church background, it focused on small-class teaching and was known for its lofty yet ambiguous admissions criteria, yet it produced research output that fell below its rankings.

Its most famous programs were in business and the arts, admitting fewer than a thousand students from around the world each year.

Considering this combination of factors, it's hard not to realize what kind of students were enrolled there.

All heirs, with classmates who were literally princes and princesses.

Among the surrounding colleges and universities in Los Angeles, Cheng Daqi was familiar only with PPD because his former company's vice-president's wife came from this school.

That guy never stopped bragging about PPD's prestige in front of Cheng Daqi.

```
He was just bluffing a bit.
"Ha ha, I'm not some Japanese detective, in fact, I'm just like you, also from the homeland."
It's just that you came here to study, and I came to beg.
The latter part Cheng Daqi didn't say out loud.
Men are boys until the day they die.
A psychological age of thirty-five doesn't prevent him from wanting to look good in front of a beautiful woman.
Pah, despicable!
"Ah? Then why did you say you came from Japan?"
Peach Blossom Eyes didn't quite understand; she was a bit unable to follow Cheng Daqi's train of thought.
One second you're playing detective here, the next you're saying you're my fellow countryman.
Buddy, you're quite talented.
"Ah, no passport or wallet, what could I do, came to get relief; didn't want to disgrace us..."
A man's mouth can spew lies like a ghost.
That's what you call ghost talk that comes out as soon as the mouth opens.
Cheng Daqi doesn't like to lie, so he only says 'no more', not 'lost'.
This is the last bit of principle he can hold on to.
Lies make people drift away from their true selves, all they gain is an empty heart.
"No worries, ha ha, do you need me to help you contact the consulate? Is your phone still with you?"
Peach Blossom Eyes said with a smile, she didn't mind giving this fellow countryman a hand; after all, she might have encountered a legendary 'detective'.
A light shone in Cheng Daqi's eyes.
Networking incoming!
Peach Blossom Eyes clearly found him a bit interesting, not in a man-woman way but in a 'this person is interesting' sort of way.
His first impression strategy had worked successfully!
"Still got my phone, let's add each other on Feixin; if I need to contact you, I'll do it. I'll just go and try my luck first."
Cheng Daqi doesn't let any opportunity slip by.
In his previous life, after his garage was overtaken by the landlord who performed a dirt-reincarnation technique, he had run errands for a boss.
The networking acuity of Lu island's gold medal salesman wasn't for nothing!
Peach Blossom Eyes' clothes had no visible brand, hard to tell their price, but her hair was of exceptional quality.
In America, a woman has to go to the hairdresser to maintain good hair quality, and the cost is quite impressive.
California's hair care prices have never been low, boasting to be America's TOP3.
International students have a pain— 'I got a haircut in America.'
Excellent hair quality, delicate skin, attending a top-tier university.
Fat sheep!
No, should be called high-net-worth clients.
This is the thrill of a successful hunt, a pleasure that lingers far longer than a shiver.
In this game of hunting, salesmen are hunters, customers are prey. Salesman practice through trial and error every day, constantly sharpening their hunting rifles.
Most of the time they fail. Ordinary hunters go on practicing in weariness, lacking the energy to dig deeper into thought.
Those hunters with needs for self-actualization tend to be more proactive.
After failing, they analyze and thoroughly perfect the details of their hunting process, preparing for the next attempt.
Finally, at some point, the skills honed over a long time explode.
A direct hit.
So exhilarating.
So exhilarating that Cheng Daqi almost forgot he had been reborn in a foreign country, becoming a vagrant with a system.
"Well, Zhao Hongjin, PPD Brick Moving University victim, glad to meet you."
"Cheng Daqi, currently surveying the entrepreneurial environment in America; your turn to scan me."
"Your name is really interesting, Cheng Daqi, does it mean you are destined to succeed in your business ventures?"
"Not as much as you, still named Hongqi in the twenty-first century, very spirited."
"Really is so; my grandfather insisted on naming me Hongqi. In the end, my mother persuaded him to change it a bit, but it did not turn out much different from Hongqi."
"Then I'll note you down as Hongqi. Is it okay if chatting with you feels like reporting to duty?"
"Sure, I like young people like you who aspire to do great things."
"Ha ha ha, we'll chat later. I'll try my luck on my own first, and if it doesn't work out, I'll ask for your help."
