Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Venting Anger

Noticing Sun Xueru's gaze, Chen Erniu felt like he was just screwed over by a ridiculous situation; there was no way he would take the fall for this!

After thinking for a moment, Chen Erniu simply maintained his usual naive grin and pretended not to understand what Mr. Lei meant.

Then, he pretended to be curious and started fiddling with the DVD player.

Observing his clumsy actions, a sharp glint flashed through Sun Xueru's eyes.

How could a fool use a DVD player?

And even more unlikely, a fool wouldn't know how to insert that kind of small movie into it!

That meant the actual owner of the DVD player was Mr. Lei, who had just spoken with the intention of making Chen Erniu the scapegoat!

Realizing this, Sun Xueru's gaze turned piercing; her year as a class head hadn't been for nothing!

"Mr. Lei, at your age, it's bad enough you watch those disgusting movies," Sun Xueru said sharply, "but to frame an innocent fool is too disrespectful for an elderly man like you!"

To her, Mr. Lei was now seven parts disappointment and three parts disgust.

Instinctively, she spoke as if she was reprimanding a student in her class, with full authority.

Mr. Lei was so frightened that he shuddered and his face turned the color of burning shame as he couldn't help but lower his head.

Being reproached by a delicate-looking female teacher, he felt like he had completely lost face.

Fortunately, there was only a fool who didn't understand anything here. If there had been others around, Mr. Lei probably would've been so embarrassed he might jump into the river.

Mr. Lei had no idea that the fool he saw in Chen Erniu had not only regained his senses but also his IQ and experience were no less than that of a normal person.

After being saved by a fairy, Chen Erniu had relived his twenty-something years of life in a short span of time.

At this moment, he was like someone with normal intellect who had lived for more than twenty years.

Even though his experience was limited and he hadn't left the village much in those twenty years,

he had learned quite a bit from the conversations of those around him, and he had even learned a lot of knowledge in his memories of spending time with Sanwa.

Sanwa wasn't just kidding about getting into a prestigious university; he studied almost every night and reviewed what he had learned during the day.

When Sanwa stayed up late, Chen Erniu would be right there, grinning naively by his side.

It was in these precious memories that Chen Erniu learned a lot.

Seeing Mr. Lei hang his head in shame, Sun Xueru knew she had achieved her goal.

She snorted coldly, "Where are the keys to the archive room?"

Mr. Lei didn't dare raise his head and could only point with his finger towards a pile of keys on the table by the door.

Sun Xueru found the key to the archive room from the pile and turned to leave, but then she paused.

"Mr. Lei, if I ever hear again that you're watching those disgusting things in the guard room, don't blame me for reporting you to the principal and getting you expelled from the school," Sun Xueru said coldly.

Even though it was Saturday and there were no classes, Sun Xueru was still worried that if Mr. Lei watched small movies in the future, students might discover it, which would undoubtedly have a detrimental effect on them.

After saying this, Sun Xueru turned and left without giving Mr. Lei another glance.

As for the fool Chen Erniu, she was even less inclined to bother with him.

No matter how gentle and soft-spoken Sun Xueru appeared, her words always carried a bewitching power, but she was very proud. When dealing with the gatekeeper Mr. Lei and Chen Erniu, she always held herself above them.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have scolded Mr. Lei like a little schoolboy, leaving him no dignity whatsoever.

What Sun Xueru didn't know was that no sooner had she stepped out of the guardroom than Mr. Lei clenched his fists and his forehead bulged with veins.

"That despicable woman! It was just a small matter! And she wants to get me fired by the principal! Damn it! It's really too hateful!"

Although Mr. Lei was usually kind, even a rabbit will bite when cornered!

He was alone in the world and depended on his job as a gatekeeper to make a living.

If he were really expelled from school for such a shameful reason, he might as well jump in the river and commit suicide, since he would have no means of livelihood afterward!

Seeing the great reaction from Old Lei, Chen Erniu sighed to himself.

Although the old man liked his naughty pleasures, they only ever involved watching small movies and telling dirty jokes in private, and he had never done anything to hurt others.

It was just a small movie after all, and yet Sun Xueru took it to the extreme of wanting to expel Old Lei, which was really uncalled for.

"Old Lei, the beauty, she's just spouting angry words!" Chen Erniu decided to comfort the sulky old man.

Reminded by Chen Erniu, Old Lei took a deep breath and forced a smile onto his face.

"You're right, she's just speaking in anger."

Though he said that, Old Lei's eyes were filled with resentment.

He could tell that Sun Xueru was not joking.

If she caught him watching small movies in the guardhouse again, she might really dare to report him!

As the saying goes, cutting off someone's livelihood is akin to killing their parents.

Moreover, not only was Old Lei facing the risk of losing his income, but he had also been scolded and humiliated by a woman in her twenties.

At that moment, Old Lei felt extremely indignant and instinctively wanted to get revenge on Sun Xueru to vent his frustration.

If he couldn't get this off his chest, he would probably shorten his lifespan by at least three to five years!

But... how should he take his revenge?

Revenge was easy, but doing it without being discovered by the other party was difficult!

Old Lei furrowed his brows and as he turned his head, he saw Chen Erniu, who was occupied with fiddling with the DVD player.

In an instant, his eyes lit up.

Right! How could he have forgotten about Chen Erniu, that naive kid!

Chen Erniu was simple-minded and didn't work at the school; using him as an intermediary would mean there was nothing to fear even if Sun Xueru found out!

After all, the school couldn't possibly bear a grudge against a simpleton, could they?

With this thought, Old Lei suddenly looked at Chen Erniu with a beaming smile: "Erniu, I remember you love gnawing on chicken feet, especially the spicy pickled ones, right?"

Upon hearing this, Chen Erniu was taken aback, catching a glimpse of calculation in Old Lei's eyes.

What was this cunning old man planning?

"Want to eat, spicy chicken feet!" Chen Erniu replied with a simple-minded grin.

Old Lei nodded in satisfaction: "That's right, just help Old Lei with a favor at school tomorrow, and I'll go to the small shop opposite the school to buy you a whole bunch of spicy chicken feet, okay?"

Hearing this, Chen Erniu internally let out a bitter laugh.

It seemed his guess was correct; the old man must have been thinking of getting back at Sun Xueru, yet he was afraid of being found out and losing his job.

So, he was trying to lure himself with the pickled chicken feet he loved the most.

Especially now, Chen Erniu had to play dumb, as refusing would make it easy for Old Lei to sense something was amiss.

With no other choice, Chen Erniu had to pretend to be very happy.

"Spicy chicken feet! Erniu wants to eat spicy chicken feet!"

The smile on Old Lei's face grew even brighter, but inside, he sneered. He finally had the chance to let out his malicious anger!

The next two days were the weekend; although there were no classes at school, Sun Xueru would have to come to review archives, as she had mentioned to Old Lei a few days before. To enter the archive room, she would need to pick up the keys at the guardhouse.

When tomorrow came, he would let Sun Xueru taste the same humiliation!

However, by then, Chen Erniu might have to suffer a little inconvenience.
