Chapter 5 - 5 Super stable, super reliable!

The problem didn't seem to be here.

Tang Micheng opened his mouth, looking somewhat bewildered.

Tang Jin was still thinking when suddenly he yanked his brother aside, his small body leaping into the air as he struck viciously behind with the horsetail whisk in his hand.

There was a dull thud.

"That's hard."

Tang Jin grabbed Tang Micheng by the collar and flung him backward, skillfully examining his little dust whisk.

"What is so hard about it?"

Tang Micheng again collapsed to the ground, but this time, he had only one thought in his mind: his sister must have learned kung fu at Mount Sanqing.

The sky suddenly darkened.

The sound of summer insects surrounded them, the howling wind nowhere to be heard.

Tang Micheng hadn't even had time to relax when he saw Tang Jin get up and rush toward the shadowy figure under the night lamp, planning to flee. He watched as the woman was pinned down by Tang Jin and beaten with the horsetail whisk until her face was blue and swollen—no mercy was shown!

Eventually, she transformed directly into a square object, seemingly trying to squeeze into the nearby building's brick structure.

But the next second, she was flung out by Tang Jin's horsetail whisk.

This time, as it landed under the streetlight, Tang Micheng could see clearly.

It was a square stone sculpture, with some cracks around it, but one could still discern the original carving of cranes delivering longevity.

Tang Micheng's eyes widened. He recognized this stone sculpture!

It was an antique with a good omen, scavenged by his cousin Wei Yihan from somewhere and given to their grandfather on his seventy-fifth birthday.

Tang Jin had already brought down her horsetail whisk.

A cracking sound grated on the ears.

Cracks spread inch by inch from beneath the whisk, fine powder rustling down, eventually splitting into several pieces.

A solid stone sculpture, weathered through the years, yet shattered into three pieces in just a few moves by a child not yet six years old!

What kind of strength was that? Or was it some sort of trick? The horsetail whisk breaking the stone!

Tang Micheng swallowed nervously, his wounds aching belatedly.

"Hisss—"

He gasped in pain.

Tang Jin had already patted her little hands and sauntered over, seeming annoyed that her slippers had hindered her performance, and kicked them away on the spot, her childishness showing.

"Do you want to wait here for me? I'll go find Steward Grandfather and call to take you to the hospital."

"No no no, I'll go with you, I don't want to stay here alone!"

At that moment, what was Tang Jin even talking about?

Following her seemed much safer than staying here on his own!

He limped, clutching his skateboard tightly and automatically reached for Tang Jin's hand, carefully glancing at the unrecognizable shattered sculpture, "What was that just now?"

"An Object Demon that developed inside the stone sculpture."

Tang Jin pulled him toward the house, not forgetting to explain.

"Some objects, when intact for a long time and under the right circumstances, can turn into Object Demons; the lowest form of demons and monsters. Grandfather fell ill because of it too. It shouldn't have had such power or malice; I don't know what the coincidental moment for it was, but we need to investigate along these lines."

So demons and monsters... do they really exist in this world?!

"Why did you know at noon that I would be in trouble tonight? Couldn't you have said more, so I wouldn't have gone out? Boo-hoo!"

His voice was full of grievance and a crying tone, "And with such a loud noise, why does it seem like no one around can hear?"

"You started showing a bluish-black aura from your nose to your forehead at noon; it was a sign of impending disaster, a bloody calamity. Calculating the time, from eight tonight till two in the morning, the yin energy is strongest. Feel in your pocket, I put something in there at noon so you wouldn't lose your life. As for why no one else could hear, it's because you had already entered the world of the Object Demon."

Feeling inside his pocket, he indeed found a gray and somewhat tattered Triangular Talisman Paper, making Tang Jin's explanation seem even more mystical.

Tang Jin explained in a childish voice which he couldn't understand, but that didn't stop him from knowing it was true.

You might think she's just babbling nonsense, but actually, she's a boss, and what she says is true, wow QAQ.

After walking a few steps, Tang Jin stopped and looked up at him, quite proud.

"Don't worry; I will protect you. I'm super reliable!"

Sanqing Taoist Temple is truly a vital pillar, not just a facade; everyone who has tried it vouches for it!

Speaking of reliable pillars, he knocked on his home door.

"Steward Grandfather! We need to rush Brother to the hospital, he's not obeying and his injuries are serious!"

***

Tang Chuang had been indeed busy lately.

The partner who had initially agreed to collaborate had even offered a penalty fee to terminate their cooperation.

Even his subordinates seemed to be cursed, constantly making basic mistakes.

It was getting late, and the atmosphere at Tang's Technology was tense due to frequent work errors that led to unavoidable overtime. No one dared to speak extra words, fearing they might irritate the boss.

Tang Chuang removed his rimless glasses, pressed on his temples, and looked at his phone, thinking about how at noon that "Little One" had insisted again he was sick in the head and needed to see a doctor quickly.

Tang Jin seemed obedient but was canny.

If she knew he'd been busy all day and had promised to go in the afternoon and hadn't gone, she might get angry.

Troublesome.

Tang Chuang picked up his phone, sent a message, stood up, and, reversing his hand, picked up his coat and walked out.

-

"It's so late; do you think I'm one of your employees? Coming for a physical exam at this hour? Are you insane?"

A genteel man in his forties, wearing a white lab coat and holding a blue folder, yawned lazily and raised his eyebrows at the guy who suddenly messaged him for a medical exam.

They were old classmates and grew up as brothers.

The health of the Tang family members fell under his hospital's responsibility.

"I literally got off the surgery table an hour ago. You know how complex and difficult brain surgeries are, right?"

"Just a quick check and write me a report," replied Tang Chuang as he took off his watch.

"The little girl at home insisted I come to get checked. I was too busy during the day and was worried she'd be upset if I didn't."

"Oh wow, your little girl came back? Who would have guessed, Brother Chuang, you're really whipped by your daughter."

"Shut up."

Whipped by his daughter?

Him?

Impossible.

-

The man chuckled scornfully.

Alright.

Such a tsundere.

He set Tang Chuang up for the examination.

The man yawned as he operated the machine.

Methodically scanning through each test.

His mind started to wander as he considered what to have for supper after this soulless beast of a patient, also thinking about getting something for his wife. Pediatrics had been very busy; his wife must be exhausted today too.

As for Tang Chuang's medical report?

With Tang Chuang's strong build, capable of knocking down a bull, and after so many checks being the healthiest in the Tang Family, what could be wrong with him? It was just about printing a form and pacifying his daughter.

Thinking this, he suddenly sat straight, his friendly demeanor vanished, his brows furrowed.

-

After his examination, Tang Chuang came out of the exam room, picking up his cell phone and watch. "Zhang Yi, is the form printed?"

"Brother Chuang."

The man spoke solemnly, staring intently at his computer screen, then looking up with no trace of a smile.

"This may not be a simple matter that a regular check can solve."
